It took me a while to get into Kasabian but now I'm digging them big time- a great sound, quite unlike most of what is on offer these days. And that's their strength. You could loosely call it 'electro-rock' but their are numerous influences, especially on West Pauper.
All they share with Oasis really is a camraderie, a tour support slot and probably the ambition and the gobbiness to the be the biggest band in the world. Unlike Oasis, however, world domination isn't something Kasabian will achieve IMO, purely because Oasis captured a moment in the public conciousness- and they were incredibly anthemic in a 'meat and potatoes rock' kinda way. Kasabian's sound is a little more niche and takes time to really warm to. They're still the fucking bollocks though!
