well, since every other thread about singing has been to criticize Liam's voice, i figured its time to praise some of the vocals being delivered. Noel's voice is amazing every single night, never faltering on such songs as DLBIA, Masterplan, WFTR, slide away. His singing gets better every tour.

Very true. Noel's voice has been improving, not only in his sung tunes, but also in the backing vocals... he can really put some emotion into it...

always is!!!!!!!
Liam is the lead vocalist, thats why he gets more attention - which he should, plus people dont wanna hear some roughed up voice, they wanna hear the songs they love.

Noels singing style as current is not strong enough to deliver electric songs. He should stick to acoustic songs IMO or go back to singing like he did 6 years ago.

I think his voice is great, but it changed ever since he started slumping over a shoulder-height microphone (was glasto 2004 the first time he did this?). As well as making him look even more of a grumpy old bastard than he already did....compare it to say, GMEX 97 or Earls Court 95, when he was standing tall, looking straight out to the crowd and didn't seem afraid at all to really belt it...what do you think?

Whatever at Barrowlands 2001 is pure amazingness....you can see how much it meant to the crowd by that video, and that's epitomizes exactly what Oasis are about. Top performance, top atmosphere, top band.

yeah noel used to sorta shout..etc from the beginning to 2004..well not nessecerily shout but he seems to have realised as he said on an interview that he didnt have to reach the back person in the crowd..he relaised he had a pa system and a amplifier
then glasto-present day softer, tuneful..imo better delivery

He sounds amazing. Think he struggles with the start of WFTR and Falling Down though. He does look ridiculous over the mic though.

Noel's voice has definitley evolved over the years. Early on he was just a good average singer, but he really improved, had some power to his voice. The last couple of years he has lost that power, his voice is softer, suited great for accoustic gigs. Look at FTM when he did Step Out, that was great! Those days are gone though. But Noel still is great, just not as powerful a singer, just like Liam

As for WFTL and FD - I think he'll have them perfected by the next tour in 3 years time or so. Look at TIOBI, that was pretty poor live in 2005 as Noel sung it way too softly, but now he's able to perform it well. Noel's voice was never bad, but now it's just stunning. I'm truly convinced the man is a genius in every sense of the word.
