As most of you know most of the best vids are on youtube,& there's a lot of rare stuff by alot of great bands etc ... anyway i have alot of mp4 vids that i've converted to avi then transfered to dvd-r but the quality is real bad,im happy to watch the bids on my ipod but on tv would be alot better.is there a better solution to help with a clearer picture?

I don't think there's a very good way to do that. Most youtube videos are pretty compressed.
Perhaps you can look up the videos on torrent sites to get the original files.

you can convert them to whatever you want, but if the original vid (the one you got from yt) has crap quality, it'll be crappy in any format. and if it has a small size you can make it bigger with any of those converter, but the quality will be even worse. like joey said, try to look for the files somewhere else rather than youtube.
