All of these ratings are within the context of the album. So a 10/10 on this record might not compete against a 10/10 on Morning Glory.. ect
Bag It Up - fantastic opener, great structure, love the ending. 10/10
The Turning - amazing second tune, love the harsh chorus chords 10/10
Waiting For... - another amazing tune. tough, catchy, great lyrics. 10/10
Shock - wish they had developed it more. i get that it was born out of a rush of inspiration but could have used.. more. that said, love the chorus. 7/10
I'm Outta Time - really good for a liam tune, like the twiggy/sardy remix better though! 8/10
Get Off Your High Horse - great tune in the context of the record!! 8/10
Falling Down - love it. 10/10
To Be Where There's Life - i like it, but its a bit of a plodder 7/10 Ain't Got Nothing - boring. 5/10
Nature Of Reality - alright.. 6/10
Soldier On - no development, no real melody to speak of. cool atmosphere though 5/10

5 stars: none 4 stars: The Turning, Bag It Up 3 stars: the rest of 'em 2 stars: I'm outta time (for the life of me I can't see the attraction, it sounds cheesy, all the overproduction on BHN sounds fucking soulful and deep in comparison) 1 star: Aint Got Nothing (yeah you got that right)

For me, DOYS came along at the exact right moment in my life. I have enjoyed the hell out of it so far. I think what makes it different from the rest of Oasis' catalogue is that DOYS has a bit of funk to it (just a bit). My ratings below:
5 stars: Falling Down--totally identify with the lyrics 4 stars: The Turning, Waiting for the Rapture, The Shock of the Lightning, I'm Outta Time, High Horse 3 stars: Bag it Up, To Be Where there's Life, Ain't Got Nothin', Soldier On 2 stars: The Nature of Reality
Makes a great companion to and from work!

to all you ankle-grabbing dolts hating on GOYHHL, I offer a standing invite to hear it on my rig to truly appreciate it- the drums (and song) are colossal.
other than that, nothings changed: the first 8, good to great, the final 3, soaked with pee.
1. bag it up: 8. a perfectly bang-on opener
2. the turning: 9. give me ten of these on an LP please
3. wating for the rapture: 8. just solid
4. the shock: 9. see "the turning" comment
5. outta time: 8. seeing Liam will have 2-3 songs on every LP from here on out, what more can you hope for?
6. GOYHHL: 8. just a blast to listen to
7. Falling Down: 9. had it been around ten years ago, people would be calling it a classic. Again, the timing thing.
8. TBWTL: 7. the last bit of reprieve before collapse sets in.
9. AGN. 4.5 was shit 18 months ago on the leak, and it's still shit 18 months on.
10. TNOR: 4. dreadful.
11. Soldier On: 4. WTF Liam? surely the most disasterous close to an oasis lp yet. Worse than betterman and that's saying something.
LP: 7.5-8/10.
the final 3 just can't be ignored- especially lumped into 15 straight minutes of utter dross.
I still feel the most pathetic aspect of the entire LP is that Liam, Andy, and Gem are all "charged" with coming up with 1-2 songs over 3 years and this is what they brought to the party?
In the end, just goes to show how fucking ridiculous Noel really is.
just an untouchable songwriter.

by the way: I just about piss myself over people giving any of the final three tracks a 6 or higher.
good fucking grief.
I know, I know, everything's an opinion so nothing's invalid.
ugh.

Right, as if Noel deserves anything short of songwriting idolatry:
theres' 11 tracks on the album.
Almost unquestionably, Noel's authored the top 5 or 6 (no small feat either, seeing he "just" had SIX, BTW).
He's also banged out roughly 20 or so of the greatest songs of the last 20 years.
I (and armies of others) feel the praise has been earned.

Bag it up - Yes! I particularly love the drumming. 10/10
The Turning - Now that's a great song, nobody can deny that. 10/10
Waiting for the rapture - A grower. Noel being excellent again (thank goodness). 10/10
The Shock Of The Lightning - This one really appeals to me (and I don't have the slightest idea why), so it has to be 10/10
I'm outta time - Once again, a grower. I hate that "lalalala" crap at the very beginning - f*cked up the entire song, imo. Sorry. 7.5/10
High Horse Lady - I can see why people don't like that one: It's not a rocky one and it's not a ballad, it's a bluesy kind of tune and that stuff doesn't appeal to people like rock songs or love songs use to do. However, just because of being a little bit bluesy and because of the fact that this kind of song is something completely new in the Oasis universe, 9/10
Falling Down - Hm. Sometimes I like it a f*cking lot and sometimes I just think it's tedious and tiresome. Due to my mood swings, let's be generous ... 8/10
To be where there's life - Well done, Mr Gem. And it probably sounds just f*cking awesome live. 10/10
The nature of reality - a.k.a. The Attack Of The Rattlesnake (just listen to the very beginning). This one might have become a great song if the band had worked on it assiduously. Well, the band decided not to and that's the result ... thanks a lot for that, you bastards. Btw, the solo's boring (up and down the guitar scale ... zzz). 5/10
Ain't got nothing - A great song while being drunk, an ordinary one while being sober. 5/10
Soldier on - I like the echoing of Liam's voice, but that's not enough to make the song special. 5/10
The whole record: 7.5 - 8 out of ten (due to the last three songs)

Holy shit you all score high. I'm hoping you just scored them in relation to the other songs on the album, giving a song like Nature of Reality an 8? Jesus, every other song out there must be nines and tens.
Bag It Up 8.5 /10 - I actually think this one's pretty good. Liam's got good vocal's on it, and there's enough variance in it to keep it pretty fresh.
The Turning 7.5 /10 - It would've scored higher back in the day, but it's gotten a bit stale for me. I feel like the chorus needed a bit more.
Waiting for the Rapture - 7 /10 - This one would've scored high earlier too. Again, not enough here to keep it fresh, but this and the turning sound great when they were fresh.
The Shock of the Lightning - 8.5 /10 - One of the few tracks to grow on me. I was pretty unimpressed when it was first leaked, but I like the feel of it more now. It would've been fantastic if Noel could've given it a better chorus.
I'm Outta Time - 8 /10 - When I first heard this one, I was in love, but just like most of the album, it just got old. It needed more / stronger verses, then the chorus would have just stood out so much more. A good example of how you can't just rely on a nice chorus.
High Horse Lady - 6/10 - Actually not terrible, I find my self playing it once in a while. I honestly think if it would have been fleshed out more (Or at all) It couldve been a decent song.
Falling Down 8 /10 - This one goes back and forth with me. Its got a case of the DOYSyndrome, where it gets old. But something about it brings me back every once in a while to see what a good song it is, it just needed a little more.
To Be Where There's Life 7 /10 - This one also really grew on me, I absolutely hated it when I first heard it. I don't know whether it was live performances or what, but it gets stuck in my head a bit now.
Ain't Got Nothin 5/10 - Bleh, never been a fan. Too bare bones, tried too hard to be a stomper without any real draw.
Nature of Reality 5/10 - The verses just sort of drawl on. The only thing that makes this song alright is the guitar, which I wish hadn't gotten stuck in such a mess.
Soldier On - 6.5/10 - I'm not sure what to say about soldier on. I like it alright, I just feel like it couldve been so much better had it not been produced in the "groove" manner of this album. That might be my summary of the whole album though, it had potential, but once again being restricted by trying to make songs all fit a certain style kills some of em.
Looking back, I thinking I scored a bit too high, but eh, I'm too lazy to redo it. Knock em all down a point.

bag it up - 7/10 ... no, make that 6.5/10 - not as high on this one as some other people are... i just dont get it...? if this had been on one of the first three records, it would have been forgotten by now. the turning - 9/10 ... this one grew on me waiting for the rapture - 7.5/10 ... (would be lower but 7.5 just cos it's a noel one)... find myself skipping this one quite a bit,,, but then again i always skipped born on a different cloud back when hc came out and now i love it... not comparing wftr and boadc OBVIOUSLY but just saying, this one could grow on me down the line the shock of the lightning - 8.5/10 ... solid first single,, could have been on dm and easily the best lead off single from the last three records (maybe four??) i'm outta time - 10/10 ... the single that never was... with a couple of quality b-sides this could have been one of the best oasis singles of all-time... the song is typical liam.. . so simple but so powerful ... love it more and more everytime i listen to it... a classic imho get off your high horse lady - 6.5/10 ...this one has slipped for me quite a bit... i still like it but it sounds a bit ,, generic (i guess the word is??) for me, i would expect this out of gem or andy, but not noel now way falling down - 10/10 ... from one extreme to the next , from one of noel's worst (goyhhl) to one of noel's best... yes i may take some flack for saying this, but this is easily the best song off doys and right up there with one of the best tunes noel's ever written... from the arrangements to the lyrics... just a brilliant and beautiful song... even better live imo (jay's keyboards sound so ace on the live versions)... chief rolled the dice with something completely different and it paid off here!!! to be where there's life - 9/10 ... never thought i would be giving a gem song a 9, but this is another one that grew on me, and once i heard the live version i was HOOKED man. a song tailor made for liam, there is no one else in the world that could sing this one proper. ('lettttt meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee commmme thruuuuuuuuuuu'..........) WELL DONE gem!!!!!! ain't got nothin' - 7/10 ... ah yes, another liam track that will go down in infamy as one that 'isn't supposed to be on there' ... well y'know wat? i like it, and it IS supposed to be on here. far better than meaning of soul IMO nature of reality - 4/10 ... was very disappointed in this one, cos i LOVE keep the dream alive. just can't get into this one, i tried and tried and tried, but can't . meh. hope we get something better from andy for lp 8. soldier on - 7.5/10 ... ok, i know alot of people dont like this one, and I know this was supposed to be iwliadimrm ,, but... i like it, sound real dreamy and psychedellic, love liam's voice as well... would have been great maybe as a hidden track after record machine. not as good as stand alone but definitely fits on the end(or toward the end) of the record. fire away, i'm ready

TSOTL is fucking monumental. It really is in the same quality of SMS. Fucking mega. Sure, Oasis by numbers, but who the fuck cares? It sounds ace! For christ's sake put it back in your pants would you? Change SMS to SMC and you're about right.

For every new album, the 'new' factor of it has to wear off sometime, but I'd say DOYS has held up quite nicely. Of course it could've been miles better, but I understand Oasis went in a new direction for the album and I respect that, but with that comes some consequences.
Bag It Up (8/10) - Holds strong, but doesn't really go anywhere.
The Turning (9/10) - A brilliant mix of smooth harmony and a wall of sound.
Waiting for the Rapture (8/10) - Delivered nicely with great vocals, but overshadowed in some ways.
The Shock of the Lightning (10/10) - One of the best Oasis songs ever. It's pure attitude and indestructible.
I'm Outta Time (7/10) - Another Liam ballad while this time around, isn't just another filler.
(Get Off Your) High Horse Lady (6/10) - A near instrumental, boring of a song that's very filler.
Falling Down (8/10) - Again, delievered beautifully but never throws a punch.
To Be Where There's Life (7/10) - Gem's best song, but it goes on and on till I can't wait for it to be over with.
Ain't Got Nothin' (5/10) - Neighbors 'The Meaning of Soul' but is just as worse.
The Nature of Reality (6/10) - The most underaccomplished song on the album. It has attitude, but seriously, what were they thinking?
Soldier On (5/10) - The second worst closer to an Oasis album. 'Better Man' being first.

Bag It Up - 9/10 The Turning - 8/10 Waiting For The Rapture - 7/10 Shock Of The Lightning - 9.5/10 I'm Outta Time - 9.5/10 Get Off Your (High Horse Lady) - 5/10 Falling Down - 8/10 To Be Where There's Life - 9/10 Ain't Got Nothin' - 9/10 Nature of Reality - 7/10 Soldier On - 7/10
It's a great record! Best since Be Here Now I think because of the fact it has a lot more solid tunes rather than the previous records just having a few. But they have increased since Be Here Now, the records getting gradually better apart from Heathen Chemistry.
I think now they are almost back on top because DOYS is better than DBTT and that is better than HC. The next record whether it be 2, 3 or 5 years time will be immense! I think it will have a new direction of rock and physchadelia - they have experimented over the last 8 years and now it is going to come together.
