Well - as a PR strategy it's a pretty effective thing to say - cause now I'm going to check out the Babyshambles...

in some years times the Libs will be almost as loved as Oasis are now. Shambles, no.

Any chance of him being in the biggest band in Britain left him when the Libertines split up.

I think they're shit, but at least they've got the motivation. Hopefully that means more tunes like Time For Heroes and Fuck Forever.

I've heard some of the tracks that should be going on the new babyshambles album, and I really like them. I think it will be a bigger album commercially across europe (only because it's more mainstream) but babshambles will never be an as good a stadium band as oasis.

Babyshambles are pretty good, especially the first album and Pete's solo album was surprisngly good.
But still....

Well - as a PR strategy it's a pretty effective thing to say - cause now I'm going to check out the Babyshambles... I wouldn't bother. They're shite. Ok - I just checked out a few songs on youtube, and I thought they were pretty dull. Of course, I could have just picked a poor selection, but they sound like a blatant rip-off mix of the Smiths and the Cure to me. Not a bad thing - but nothing exciting. I remeber thinking the Libertines sounded good about five years back -- but I'm listening now -- and they're not standing out as anything special for me. I'm digging Supergrass though. Are they still togehter? And the Ganjas "the Darkside" is great! Thanks Andy and Gem!

The Libertines should and could have been the biggest band in the world.
They bottled it when they split up when they had a tiff.
Doeherty and Barret should admit they love each other and re start the Libertines and them maybe we'll listen.
Babyshambles and Dirty Pretty Things are just vehicles to get at each other. BUt as bands nahh, crap.
The magic happens between Barret and Doherty and until they admit that they are wasting their time and talent. Time is marching on and waits for no man though.
I would love the Libs to reform and take their place alongside oasis, amazing band. The first album is brilliant.

Well first of all, Mr Pete(r) needs to learn how to sing live cos what is he doing now is attrocious (check out babyshambles at jools holland "fuck forever"). Then maybe improve their musical skills (noel is guitar god compared to those smackheads), but finally they will not manage cos they not able to fill the stadiums (i.e. River Plate, yeah right).
Smackheads biggest band in the world? Yeah in the world of smackheads.

I agree they have thrown it all away, wasted whatever talent they had. Doherty will always be a could have been.
