Black 47 - I can't link to any really good youtube videos, but they are a fun band.
Self Righteous Brothers - Tastee Girl is a hilarious album, and the tunes aren't too bad.

The Cobbs: I saw them with BRMC. Excellent tunes. This one is pretty one, but they have some more BRMC sounding tunes on the record.
Cass McCombs: Fuckin excellent songwriter. Saw him with Band of Horses.
The Ocean Blue: Pennsylvania band that sound alot like the Stone Roses and The Byrds. This an epic cover of TIALTNGO.
Other bands that are pretty cool that are sort of lesser known:
The Walkmen Vetiver Voxtrot

Wow, silvercruiser, great list. I literally thought I was the only person in the world who remembered Campag Velocet (Vito Satan is my favourite, Vindictive Disco off their utterly ignored 2nd album is fabulous).
The Super Furries will never quite get the recognition they deserve, they're a bit too unhinged for mainstream acceptibilty, i.e. releasing a 5-minute single that uses the word "fuck" 100 times, but they are one of the great bands of recent times.
Oasis are on a Neu! tribute album that came out a few months ago (the track I Can See It Now) and UNKLE actually got Noel to remix their track The Knock-On Effect a few years back.

Broken Records Frightened Rabbit The Twilight Sad Mogwai
These are my most favourite bands. They probably won't be worldwide well-known, but all of them are fantastic.

Sparkle Horse and Danger Mouse's new album is pretty damn good. Little Girl, with Julian Casablancas from The Strokes, is a fucking great tune.

I'm sure some of you have heard about Creedence Clearwater Revival but I've never seen any discussion about them on the board. I haven't heard all of their albums but what I've heard is fantastic.
Art Brut - the debut is a classic.. the link song is as poppy as they get but they have some pretty dark stuff too
Cymbals Eat Guitars - New band, I like them a lot
The Auteurs - Some of Britpop's finest
The Boo radleys - There's more to them than Wake Up Boo!.. Their album Giant Steps is brilliant
Iron & Wine - Great folk music
Devendra Banhart - A hell of a songwriter

The Auteurs - Some of Britpop's finest Isn't that that bloke's band who wrote The Downfall Of Britpop or something? Luke Haines (?) not sure if that's the name I like Iron & Wine. Good call on Art Brut as well, saw them the other day playing acoustic because one of them tripped over the guitar lead ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble
Not sure how well known they are in America but saw them on Jools Holland a few weeks back and thought they were very good. Not the sort of music I normally dabble in but they played this song and there was just something about it.

Basically Dream Theater vocalist James LaBrie's band before DT, and I'm holding out for a reunion.

Some really nice bands there that I've never heard of, thanks... I like lots of British rock bands, most of them wellknown though. Later stuff by the Beatles is great.... also psychedelic music, as long as it doesn't get too psychedelic, that's just disturbing... Anyone like Mazzy Star? They're my latest discovery... Mazzy Star: Fade into You Mazzy Star? Mazzy Star: Look on Down from the Bridge (probably the most depressing song I've ever heard ![:))](//storage.proboards.com/1258801/images/Ngp_QMb1bVCrnCbSfO6p.gif) I also love Sigur Rós - great for relaxing...
