Not sure whether this should be posted in this forum but just a thought.
Its 20 years ago to the date that 96 Liverpool fans died at the FA Cup Semi Final at Hillsborough.
Just think every football fan should spare a thought for those people and their families today. You dont go to a football game not expecting to come back.

My friend was there at Hillsborough. (she was also at Heysel) Don't think she will ever get over it. I can remember where i was 20 years ago. At Deepdale watching PNE v Notts County. I can still remember the news coming in around the ground. Ambulance on the pitch. Fans on the pitch. Mixed messages across the ground. (No internet or Sky sports back then) By half-time it was clear something was wrong. Wasn't until it got home that i became more aware. Until then i thought it was crowd violence. I can remember everything about where i was that day. (same to with Heysel and the Bradford Fire. I can remember where i was.) Dark days indeed. Like everyone says. "We must never forget"

I can honestly say I shed a few tears today.
RIP to the 96, and we will carry on the fight for Justice.
For those that dont know the circumstances or have believed the lies and propaganda spread by the police and certain parts of the press where true, watch ITV 3 at 9 tonight.

Has everyone in liverpool still put the block on the Sun Don? What about the blue half?
I made the mistake of walking around Liverpool city centre one Saturday with the sun under my arm in 97 when a mate of mine was at uni....a taxi driver told me why i was getting evil looks.......I felt fucking awful

I don't think its that bad now to be honest.
Theres alot of students here so they aren't clued up on the significance of it all.
Saying that though you can still get the odd taunt from someone if theyre not in the right mood

Can anyone explain to me what it is with the sun? I understand it's sort of a bullshit newspaper that prints made up stories on celebrities, but it seems there's something else...

In order to sell more the printed a lot of bullshit about the incident, like it was all Liverpool fans' fault, that the pocketed the injured people and pissed all over the cops www.guardian.co.uk/media/greenslade/2009/apr/15/hillsborough-disaster-sundaytimes

RIP, I have a friend who was playing football at the time, don't think he's over it.
Of course the scousers won't go on about that incident that got England booted out for 5 years, it's all about Hillsborough.

^^^ Entirely different incident. An incident in which those accountable were punished with prison sentences and what not. Justice was done. Here no-one has been made accountable for a "man-made" tragedy. And it wasnt just "scousers". Liverpool have fans from all over, some of whom never returned that day. Has everyone in liverpool still put the block on the Sun Don? What about the blue half? I made the mistake of walking around Liverpool city centre one Saturday with the sun under my arm in 97 when a mate of mine was at uni....a taxi driver told me why i was getting evil looks.......I felt fucking awful I have never seen anyone with the Scum newspaper in their hand outside of the city centre. As WITB said, will more than likely be an OOT'er reading it and not a local.

Kelvin MacKenzie I'm at work so I cant swear, but I just read that he was given three oppertunities to apologise for the completley fabrictaed headline and story that followed in the Sun. To still be so pig headed to not apologise EVEN IN 2007 is just the behaviour of a KUNT. It was a waste of life and terrible day, I know politics hadsnothing to do with it. But I'm going to go out on a wim her and say I bet he was a tory boy, trying to blame the working classes for the problem that occured that day...rather than bad management
