I was working on an edit of Force of Nature, and decided to OOPS it, just for fun & to see if there was anything interesting that may have buried beneath the poor production. Towards the end of the song, there was a harmonica absolutely wailing away. That seemed pretty cool, and imo, if it would've been more present & louder in the song, it would've added a little more to the song. Yeah towards the end! You can vaguely hear it in the albumversion. I thought it sounded like that but thought it was probably either a guitar or a keyboard. Could someone upload that OOPSED version in the OOPS thread?

Yup while I was working on the edit I posted earlier I OOSPed the demo and album versions, pretty good instrumental as well. It's such a shame that the guitar comes out so muddy because there's a lot of good work going underneath the mess. The honky tonk-like piano is good, but it gets to be too much at times in the song. With the mash up I did I removed alot of the stupid banter and cut the ridiculous bloated ending, the songs sounds so much more concise.

That's a good move, really, because the song is pretty strong, aside from a few shit lyrics and poor production. If they would've gone with a concise approach to the production & song, itself, with an actual solo in it, I think it would've come out really well. ...but they didn't, so now we have our fun making these edits.

Here's one that Tom S pointed out to me... on the Live Demonstration mix of Fade Away there's a tape wow and acoustic guitar strum on the intro, which is absent from the first mix (on the "Oasis in Boardwalk Basement" cassette).
It's odd to have an acoustic guitar there, as none of the other tracks recorded with the Real People feature acoustic guitars (D'yer Wanna Be a Spaceman? and Married With Children were recorded in Mark Coyle's home studio, of course).

I've always liked that little bit of slide guitar. It'd be interesting know where it came from.

My Big Mouth lyrics: "Where angels fly, you won't play" The Stone Roses tune: "Where Angels Play" Magic Pie: And they who wanna be adored - "I Wanna Be Adored" My star will shine - "Your Star Will Shine" I Hope, I Think, I Know: The future's mine and it's no disgrace - "She Bangs The Drums" Supersonic: He lives under a waterfall - "Waterfall" Even today, Noel still makes Stone Roses references: Like in The Dying of the Light, "I'm tired of watching all the flowers turn to stone"

Gem's backing vocals on A Bell Will Ring.
When you OOPS mix it, from 2:01 to 2:27, it becomes quite clear in the mix, and it doesn't sound like Liam doing his own backing vocals, nor does it sound like Noel or Andy. Kind of cool to hear, and neat to hear Gem sing, even if it's only background stuff.

I like the song. It's a nice little tune with some neat lyrics and a sweet, driving riff. It does scream filler for how it ends abruptly, but it's a good effort by Gem imo.

gem and andy's sublime backing vox in 'off at the next exit'. you almost need to listen thru good quality headphones to hear them clearly, but they're there.

Maybe I'm ignorant, but I've never seen this particular set of (very interesting) original lyrics for Roll With It before: Roll With It1)You gotta roll with it,You gotta take your time,You gotta say what you say don’t let anyobody get in your way,Cos It’s all too much for me to take.2)You gotta keep it [wide/wise],Don’t ever be denied,You gotta be who you be if your coming with me,I think I’ve gotta a feelin’ I'm lost inside,I think I’m gonna take me away and hide,I’m thinking that I just can’t (abide) DecideMiddle 8)Rows of hope and people drag you down,Live the rumors passed around the town,Kiss the girl she’s not behind the door,You know I think I know your face,But I’ve never seen you before.3)So sing a song with me,Bang a gong with me,It’s quarter to four and there’s someone at the door,I don’t think that I can take much of this no more.4)So what is wrong with you?I like your attitude,The rain feels the same and it’s fuckin’ up my brain,I think we got a feeling’ I’m lost inside,I think I’m gonna take me away and hide,I’m thinkin' things that I just can’t abide. They were part of what appears to be a different notebook to the one talked about on Mr Monobrows site. This particular set includes a large doodle saying "Me + Music Forever" signed by Noel and dated 23rd November 1994, a page discussing 'The Beatles', 'The Jam', 'David Bowie' and 'The Who', and these lyrics to 'Roll With It' with a set of lyrics behind it which (after much squinting) maybe 'All Around The World'. This information has been available since 2006 so I'm sure some must have seen it, but it was completely new me, and so hopefully you too:

The site 'now' shows a description of the long sold alternative notebook with the following passage: A book of lyrics and notes compiled by Noel Gallagher, one page initialled NG and dated Nov.23.94, comprising his handwritten lyrics in various inks for 'Feeling Like I Think...', 'Rainy Summertime', 'On'n'On', 'Starchild', 'Callin' All', 'Roll With It', ' All Around The World', 'Hello!', 'Rockin' Chair', 'Going Nowhere', 'Not Finished-Untitled' (this eventually released as 'Bonehead's Bank Holiday'), 'Step Out Tonight', 'Champagne Supernova' and 'She's Electric'; with various track listings, and other notes such as Teeth Falling Out Is Guilt About Masturbation, a sketch of a heart and arrow inscribed Music + Me 4 Ever, and a list of songs headed Rebbelius Jukebox (sic) and Noel's comments on them, for example, of his number one listing, 'Ticket To Ride' by the Beatles, he writes, ...the greatest song ever written..., and of the Jam's 'Snap!', '...(they) were the first band I was really into I remember seeing them do Eton Rifles on the Whistle Test or The Tube or something and Wellers speeding to f*** giving it loads I just sat there going ''Wow!'', an A4 lined pad, some pages looseNot only do we now know why Noel really had his teeth replaced ( ) but we also now have tangible evidence of a new list of unreleased or early song titles (With the later being more likely due to the identification of 'Bonehead's Bank Holiday'): - Feeling Like I Think...- Rainy Summertime- On'n'On- Starchild...the reappearance of one songs from Noel 1993 notebook (as seen on Mr Monobrow's website): - Callin' All...and the appearance of nine post Definitely Maybe Tracks: - Roll With It- All Around The World- Hello!- Rockin' Chair- Going Nowhere- Not Finished-Untitled [AKA Bonehead's Bank Holiday] - Step Out Tonight [sic] - Champagne Supernova

Does the fact that Bonham's pointed out Bonehead's Bank Holiday account for the fact that Starchild is a unique song, or is it lazy research on their part? Perhaps it wasn't in a recognisable form? - Rainy Summertime... perhaps an early title for Some Might Say? The song sure has plenty of references to sunshine, rain, thunder and brighter days. I think there is evidence to believe that Some Might Say is one of the earlier (WTS)MG? tracks, yet it's name does not appear amongst the tracks we know of ( Hello!, Roll With It, etc.). Is this because it's hiding under different title? The Bonham's question? - A long shot but could Feeling Like I Think... be Hey Now!? It seems to have some references feelings... who knows? "Teeth Falling Out Is Guilt About Masturbation" LOL.
My first thought when I saw Starchild was that it could be Angel Child too.
You might be onto something with Some Might Say, but I have absolutely no idea when that was written.
Edit: Now I do: “It was the first song I ever wrote when I moved to London and it was inspired by listening to The Faces." When did he move to London? '94?

Noel would include David Bowie and Neil Young songs in his tracklists (Heroes & Don't Spook the Horse for example) without name checking them, so The La's seem a very likely source for more songs to cover. There's nothing to say Noel didn't have a self-penned song called Callin' All ( Slide Away is the name of a 93' Verve song for example) but good speculating nonetheless sir.

Possibly already been mentioned here but Noel actually wrote a second verse to Rockin' Chair, looks something like: "I don't wish to know of your beliefs Don't take a book from my leaf All my life I've never found another way I don't care for the books you read Your books have the masses bleed All my life I've never known a better day" Sort of understandable why it was dropped.

Anyway interesting stuff with a touch of gold dust sprinkled in there. Add em' to the list. Great find once again, my friend! Always amazing to find out about unknown songs even if we only get to know the titles or early lyric sketches. This is one more step in comprehending Noel's early delevopment as a songwriter. I can definitely recall visiting that auction site when you had posted the link the first time around and not noticing the description new to us. I really tend to believe it has been updated in the meantime. Anyway, just wanted to add that Some Might Say had very probably been set as the final title by May 1994 at the latest, when it was demoed with Owen Morris at the end of the 'Whatever'-sessions at Maison Rouge, which is the electric version that was released on the japanese Some Might Say import. Noel lost the other famous Notebook at the end of 1993 when he was, for some reason, refused to re-enter a hotel room where he had left it - I suppose this second notebook was filled with content in between Nov/Dec 1993 and obviously Nov 1994 or even later. 'Rainy Summertime' might indeed be an early title, although it has been speculated that 'New Stones', a title that appeared on a 1993 fantasy tracklist for the second Oasis album in the other notebook, could be an early title for Some Might Say as well. The song itself apparently was written in 1993 and was heavily influenced by Bernard Butler's guitar playing on Suede's amazing 'Animal Nitrate'. davidjay surely knows more. I also wonder where Wonderwall and its early version called 'Wishing Stone' fits in there. He must at least have had the title since late 1993...will try to waste a few more thoughts on the whole matter once I find some time!

I thought Wonderwall was written somewhere in early '95. He got the title from a girl he met (can't come up with the exact circumstances right now) during that late 1993 UK tour they did with The Verve, or just Verve as they were still called at that point. Noel's mentioned that the song had been called Wishing Stone 'for ages', of course without giving a timeline. There's also this quote from one of the Abbot brothers that he had already recorded a version of Wonderwall with Mark Coyle in late 1993 (though that is most probably untrue). Anyway, it is well documented that Don't Look Back In Anger was written/or finished in April 1995 in a hotel room in Paris, the 19th or 20th to be precise.

Ahh really, that's interesting. Haven't read anything on it anywhere. I've also heard it was more of a reggae song in the beginning, does anyone know if that's true? I was convinced he had really written it for Meg and used the imaginary friend bullshit as an excuse

WTF. Just looking back at some of my previous posts and I stumbled across something pretty big... Perhaps I missed this first time around (although no one else seems to have mentioned it), perhaps Bonhams updated the page (hence the 'Amended' title) or perhaps the site wasn't working properly last time? Whatever.
- She's ElectricSpeculation time ladies and gents! I'll take this opportunity to bring up some of the more obvious ones. Take everything with a massive pinch of salt... pure speculation: - Is Starchild it an early title for Angel Child? Noel's 1993 notebook had the song title Angel Face. Are all these the same song? It seems to have some references feelings... who knows? Anyway interesting stuff with a touch of gold dust sprinkled in there. Add em' to the list. Callin' all - a early title for Lyla? Lyla was originally called sing and was possibly written around 2001
