My view after 6 months:
Tracks 1-7: I really enjoy them, including High Horse Lady which everyone seems to hate. WFTR is one of my all time favourites. Track 8: Brilliant live track. The album version is decent. Tracks 9-11: These are horrible and I'll never listen to them again unless forced upon me.

The only songs I listen to off DOYS are To Be Where There's Life and Soldier On. I love lthese 2 songs and listen to them on a pretty regular basis. I sometimes listen to High Horse Lady.
I like the rest of the songs quite a lot (except Waiting for the Rapture, Bag it Up and the Nature of Reality, and even BIU and TNOR redeem themselves a bit with their endings) - but I don't really listen to them.
I don't know why I don't listen to TSOL more - it a great track.
But despite the fact that I'm only really attached to 2 of the songs off it, objectively I'd say DOYS is a really good, solid album

I have been listening to this album again and it is pretty good. I enjoy about 80% of it. DBTT was a Mark II highpoint for me so this album had a lot to measure up to. Its solid but I hope they go back to the sound they explored on DBTT. I think it was more of a natural extension of their past work than DOYS.

I listened to it today. I still get a sense of euphoria when the guitar solo kicks in on the Turning.

Yea, I listened to it the other day (whole album) for the first time in awhile and I still find it pretty solid. The only songs I can't stand are HHL and AGN. I think I've listen to them both combined maybe... 6 times?
As it's been said before, it starts very strong but drops off a bit towards the end. Hopefully they can remedy this problem for the next album, whenever the fuck that is lol

Its pretty far down on my list of Oasis albums. I'm pretty shocked how much IOT and FD fell off for me, and how much TBWTL picked it up. I don't know, i just feel like besides all the rockiness there isn't enough energy put into this one. (Although played well live all the songs become drastically better.)

i personally think IOT is over rated. The song is nice and one of liam's strongest but people claiming that it's his best is beyond me. Got a great vocal, good guitar break, and a nice outro but it doesn't touch GGTIA.

I never listen all the way through. I like the first half, and i love falling down and tbwtl. The rest i'm quite nonplussed by. Don't get the hype for IOT.

i think it is an average album not as good as dbtt, better than hc but worse than sotsog, bhn, wtsmg and dm so that puts in at no6 of best oasis albums for me
ive never really connected with the turning like every1 else has seemed to, bag it up is ok and so is waiting for the rapture. tsotl is a good lead single and has grown on me and will age well. im outta time is probs the best on album. i am indifferent to high horse lady and aint got nothin but high horse lady is beginning to grow on me. falling down is great but is starting to get stale now. to be where theres life is decent, NOR is poor and so is soldier on
Overall i dont really like this album and the psyche groove which oasis have adapted 6 out of 10
hopefully EP8 will be a return to form with old school oasis and stompin tunes, however i think that oasis will continue to experiment and will at the same time become less and less relevant

Time will tell us that it is not as good as Don't Believe The Truth by a little bit, but we will consider these two the collective moment when Oasis saved themselves from doom after the Heathen Chemist faux pas.

I am also beginning to believe it's the 2nd worst, which isn't bad going because I still love it (and I bloody love HC too). I couldn't order them beyond DM being at the top and these two at the bottom but I'm fairly sure that's the positions they'd occupy on a theoretical list at this point.

Only track I skip is Ain't Got Nothin' and I'm not a massive fan of I'm Outta time, it's still good but I prefer the Twiggy & Sardy mix. The Richard Fearless version of To Be Where There's Life would also have been an improvement but a great album all the same for me, equal 3rd with Giants after Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory.

I'm going to be honest..... I loved it at first but since before Christmas it has got really flat for me. It's a pity because it could have been a lot better.
BIU= bland, goes nowhere. Only part I like is "Someone tell me I'm dreaming.."
TT= Nicely produced but again overrated. Like the guitar solo but a cheap immitation of a DM/BHN song.
WFTR= Great song. Got better with time.
TSOTL= Same. Liked it first, love it now. If the rest of the album was like this it could of been a proper Oasis album.
IOT= simply overrated.
GOYHHL= how this seen the light of day is a crime. I thaught this was genius when I first heard it. I most of been off my fucking head.
FD= Brilliant. Prob best on album.
TBWTL= Live its fantastic. Album version is pure shite.
AGN= ok, has some energy but hasn't got the quality to be on an album. B-side at best.
TNOR= like the guitar solo, the rest is plodding dog shit. Lyrics are good.
SO= Liam's best off album. I like this but more should of been added. It needed more time to be a classic and it so easily could of been. Maybe a better chorus.
I'm as big an Oasis fan as anyone but I'm really pissed off with DOYS. I think some people on here cod themselves when they say this album is "amazing" and "there best since Morning Glory".......no chance. DBTT and SOTSOG are both better and fuller albums that don't leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Well, to me I still enjoy it as much as I did when I first heard it. If DBTT was like the sound of 1968, DOYS is like 1972. It's kind of glam, lots of 'big' songs and I really like the way it follows where DBTT (which i also love) left off.
The first 8 tracks, BIU to and including TBWTL are amazing. A perfect run of tracks, more or less flawless to me. The Turning, which should have the 2nd single, is a little menacing and just all over the place. TSOTL is the new MG (shame its not as great live, most of the time), and HHL is probably one of my favourites off the album. I'm surprised so many dislike it! It's got a breezy, laid back very cool 'infectious', as someoen said, vocal and vibe, I think its hard not to love. Hell, I'd love for it to have been the 3rd single instead of FD - just because its so different from anything they've done or released before.
Where it could have been better? Well, I loved the piano on the FD Chem Bros remix, so making that more prominent in the mix in the album version would have been great. The Sardy/Twiggy remix of IOT I almost prefer to the original. Brilliant, all 6 mins. I'd have releaed that version as a s3rd or 4th single, its really outstanding. But I love the album version too. It's a delicate little piece from Liam and he does a tremendous job with it live.
Tracks 9-11 are good, especially TNOR which I really like, but something is missing in there. The guitar on the demo of AGN was much better as it had a more clashing, aggressive tone ot it. The album version sounds a llitte more subdued. Soldier On is a good closer, I love the lingering feel and the harmonica. It's something different. Overall, these are good songs but not as great as the first 8. Maybe sticking Record Machine in there ater AGN and before TNOR would have helped.

^^^Hit the nail on the fucking head. Wonderful post man, agree with everything about the Twiggy/Sardy remix being better and tracks 9 to 11 being good ( ;D).
