secondly,i have an external hard drive, when i click on system removal so i can safely disconnect it,it keeps saying cant disconnect right now (or something like that)?? if i just tke out lead im worrie di might lose all my stuff on there?? first try this: go to "my computers", where you will see "devices with removable storage". locate your external HD, right click on it, and select Eject from the menu you will see. i guess, some file on your external drive is being accessed by some application even if you are not actively writing to the file. example: if microsoft word is setup to save files to the external drive instead of an internal drive. you might be able to identify the process by opening the task manager and clicking on the processes tab. other than that a hard drive, unless currently writing, doesn't stand a chance of corrupting data or physically damaging itself. you could also try the tool "unlocker" current version 1.8.7 ultima ratio: shut down you computer then disconnect yer HD
