What's going on with them? I thought they were going to be touring this year. Has anyone heard anything?

I check every day and I haven't heard anything. It would be horrible if they didn't tour.
.... Tour Canada, that is...

The band is dead for the second time. I hope not, saw them last May in Toronto, they were brilliant.

The band is dead for the second time. i'm afraid you might be right. how could a band so great not be able to put aside their differences? we all work jobs with people we don't like. could you imagine if your job was "The Verve"? oh well... at least they recorded forth.

I don't think they have broken up again or else we would have heard about it. Hopefully they are just away working on new material.
The sad thing is that there really aren't many good verve forums or sites out there that update regularly.

Apparently McCabe is opening or playing with a new band from Manchester called the Black Marquee. Look them up on myspace/facebook.

Luckily that's just a one time thing he's going to do for that club. On the other hand it does feel like the band haven't been spending much time together. I don't think they were all there for the brit awards either. It sucks how in this day and age bands are taking advantage of the internet to stay in touch with their fans, but they just decide to disappear.

Didn't Ashcroft say he was planning another solo record?

The "new" The Verve was just an highlight on the Ashcroft solo carrer. and making money... of course Can you blame them? They wrote one of the best and most successful songs of the 90's and they got $ 0.00 for it. Fucking Rolling Stones

I thought that Ashcroft said that he would still pursue his solo work but the that the verve would play in the future.

If they were doing it solely for the money, they would have toured the album more. I think part of the reason they did it was just that they all love making music. And deep down, all 4 of them know that they can't make music alone or with anyone else like they do with each other, whether they fucking hate each other or not.

From someone who saw Nick after the gig and asked him why we hadn’t had any news -
Damn you Richard!

Right, I'm not buying any more of that preachy c*nt's disappointingly average solo albums until I see The Verve play a proper setlist.

Fuck, they should tour again. Forth is a great album. When I saw them last year in Toronto, it was one of, if not the best, gig I've ever been to.

when will Ashcroft learn that he belongs in the fucking Verve? It's insane how much better they are than is solo work.

Nick, Si and Pete have started a side project called the Black Ships, and according to his myspace they've got a load of material already recorded - mostly jams and that but they're arranging it now. I reckon Richard's working on that contracted solo album (oh joy) and that's why The Verve are on hold. www.myspace.com/theblackshipsofficialI wish they'd fucking release Blue Pacific Ocean, it's one of the best things they've done.
