Having heard the couple of live clips of MBM from the few times it's been played, there's really no point playing it and I don't understand the furore that dropping it from the set has caused around here. The limitations in Liam's voice have meant it's had to be dropped from the key of A all the way down to F#, already rendering it a bit flat....songs played/heard live where the key has been dropped to accomodate the singer's range always seem to fall flat.... And the amazing verse/chorus riff that made the song so distinctive is now more of a lazy strumalong. Sing supersonic over the top of the new arrangement of MBM, it's exactly the same.
Thoughts?

Thoughts? It would be refreshing if they did My Big Mouth.

Thoughts? It would be refreshing if they did My Big Mouth. Even if it sounds infinitely inferior to the way it used to/should be? It's almost an admission of carelessness in my opinion. And I ain't bashing Oasis, I happen to think the new record's up there with the best and they're on fire live at the moment, just think it's not such a bad thing to drop a song that they'd have to mangle out of all shape to be able to play comfortably.

off BHN i think IHITIK is the better song
i would have DYKWIM, IHITIK, Dont Go Away and Its Gettin Better Man before My Big Mouth
although the rehearsal clips on YouTube My Big Mouth sounds pretty meaty so i think it would work

I know what you mean mate, I completely agree...
Although it's nice to see something 'different' in the set...I'd rather IHITIK or DYKWIM be played....or hell even something new, perhaps this "If There's A God" (since a recent interview has made Noel aware that people want to hear more of it etc)....

I don't agree... I thinks it's great to hear such a powerfull tune from the early days, specially such a rare one to be played live... and about the key, i think it sounds good, like a different version of the song... I'm glad they tune it down, so that it would sound better... weren't you excited when you heard DYKWIM from the HC tour?? it was half a tone down... and so it was Slide away and Dont Go Away from Noel's acoustic tour, and man they sounded awesome... maybe you're not a fan, but U2 play almost every song half a tone down and they sound great live IMHO....

What is it with My Big Mouth. To me, it's overproduced rubbish. Obviously, DYKWIM and All Around The World should be played - they are mega songs live.

Because they're playing something for the proper fans, and not just catering for biffs who only own two albums and base their liking for Oasis on whether they get a lot of radio airplay.

They have a pretty big back catalogue now. Is it too much to expect them try a new song every now and then?
In other words keep the set list you've got but just perform one extra "new" song each night as an experiment. Stop the band getting bored if nothing else.
Bloody hell, Bob Dylan changes setlists, keys and tempos onstage without even telling the band beforehand; they're just expected to keep up.

Cool of dylan to do that kind of things but i saw the man live 3 times now and 3 times it was absolutely rubbish

Because it's from Be Here Now, that's why. It's a fucking crime that they haven't played anything from the album since 2002!

It sounds awesome in a lower key. Liam needs to sustain his vocals but otherwise is great. Very Acquiesce-ish.

at first you think its a new tune
i think alot of BHN Noel could easily be changed slightly, whether it be key or whatever
If Noel is really that unhappy with that album, just re-do them to fit in with the Noel of today, like with MBM i suppose

Yeah but it's kinda up to other bands that wanna cover the song to disfigure it, shouldn't a band play their own songs the way they were meant to be heard?

If I wanted to hear what's on the record I'd stay at home, gigs are for variety. Wouldn't have epic mix ups like Round Our Way/Up In The Sky, Setting Sun/Fade In Out, Whatever/Octopuses Garden if they stuck to the record.
Plus the live version of To Be Where There’s Life is a monster, it would be pretty ordinary live if it was more record like.

Who's to say that they could replicate any song from BHN properly? I agree, My Big Mouth wasn't the best choice, it wasn't even the best 5th choice from the album. However, at this point, it's better then absolutely nothing.

Thats pretty true to the original. Yeah I know what you are saying, I'm not up for the new MBM. When I go to see Oasis I want to hear differnt/rare songs being played BUT in the way I expect them to sound. I dont think they should change songs around to suit Liams voice, If he's not up for it, dont do it. Remix's are ok though. Noel on the other hand used to & still could put differnt songs randomly into the set. If they were to go back to BHN songs then IGBM! would be mega, Liam could still pull that off.
