I just received the information that the gigs in Beijing (4/3) & Shanghai (4/5) are cancel now...anyone get the same information? Not sure for the reason...may be some ridiculous restrict in China or something like that...But I'll be glad if they can go to other countries such as Singapore or Taiwan if the rumor is true

Generally the show company can not sell tickets if they didn't get the permit.
According to the Beijing Youth Daily the show company office said they ran into cash flow difficulties.
HK will go on, different companies.

hehe~If Taiwan's show company think it can make big money, they will invite oasis years ago. Nothing against, TW people are kind and their cultures are fun BTW HK never sold out, last time it only got 70% attendances, this time seems worse. Beijing & Shanghai are not officialy canceled yet, maybe been postponed, but guessed they will be canceled.

damn it! I was looking foward those gigs cos' I heard that the chinese government asked the Rolling Stones not to play some songs with explict lyrics, which means that Noel would finally have to chance the setlist, or chance at least chance C&A for some other tune...

You wanted the chinese government to censor Oasis songs? Hahahaha, that's funny. I'd pay to see Noel's reaction to them trying to change the setlist.

That's too bad!
Do Oasis have much of a fan base in China? It's pretty exciting that they got invited to play in the first palce.

I try to make it short, people must hate me when I appear on here I guessed if the gov asked oasis not to play some songs, Noel possibly won't bother and play a shorter set. So I told friends who would go to SH gig, they said gov was fool, but they were happy as long as oasis would come. On the other hand, most people in this country are not rich and they don't mind international artists will come or not (remembered someone mentioned about this), so the gov wouldn't care. And believed me, some people who can afford $234 tickets are more sick of our gov then the ones in this forum. What I said HK gig didn't sell well and oasis had never go to TW, not mean Oasis is unknown. Aside from the financial tsunami, both this area have a lot of influential local artists, it is not easy for any foreign artists. In fact, Oasis is one of the most well-known international artists here, their news appeared on newspaper and internet, even CCTV(our gov tv station). They don't have to get Grammy, they don't have to attend the big charity shows or the Ipod ad, they are the only one nowaday band which lots of people love them just because their music. All the words I said just my point of view, I will keep the mouth shut from now on.

But actually the financial tsunami doesn't really affect the live performance market in Taiwan (Not sure for HK). Travis & Kylie just came to TW last year, and Coldplay (Probably) and Linkin' Park this year too! No offence to China's fan above, but the truth is: The reason that Oasis didnt come to Taiwan before was because the time slot that Oasis tour management gave to TW cannot be solved (Source: My friend was worked in the company used to contact foreign performers). The fanbase in Taiwan, Singapore or HK is actually a huge amount, although Japan still ranked the No.1 in Asia (The REALLY love Oasis) ;D

SHANGHAI (AFP) — British rock band Oasis's live concert debut in mainland China has been cancelled, organisers said Monday. Concert promoter Luo Xiaochuan declined to give a reason for the British group's Beijing and Shanghai appearances, scheduled for April 3 and 5, not going ahead. The band is on tour promoting their latest album, "Dig Out Your Soul". Their website and tour blog made no mention of the cancellations. It was not immediately clear whether the band's Hong Kong concert on April 7 would be affected. The Chinese dates had attracted the attention of some music fans curious to see how lead singer Liam Gallagher, known for his abrasive attitude and unpredictable behavior, would fare in a country where live performances are tightly regulated.( looks like word got out from L4e again )Authorities have tightened restrictions following a Shanghai concert last year by Icelandic singer Bjork, who concluded her show by shouting: "Tibet!" The subject of Tibet remains extremely sensitive in China amid allegations by the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, and other Tibetan exiles and activists, of Chinese repression in the Buddhist Himalayan region.

I don't hate you, and I think nobody here does. Still, I do believe that the people that run the country you live in and the way the administration is set are both fucked up.
