I think they were both Great years for music. Personally 2005 was great. U2 in form, Oasis in amazing form, Coldplay on their game. New bands like Franz ferdinand making noises. Skinny jeans, un-melodic indie music hadn't invaded the music scene with it's poison, things were good. Thats just me though

ha coldplay on their game? X&Y isn't very good its their worst. Its not out right bad but its a 3/5 hardly "on their game". U2's HTDAB was released in 2004.

There is no doubt that 2005 beats 2008, but I've got to say that both years were pretty drab

U2s album was released in 2004 but alot of their touring reached its climax in 2005. Some of the singles were released in 2005.

The early-mid 90's were great for music as a whole. It just went downhill from there. Now all genres are cluttered with garbage and you have to search much deeper for the good stuff.
Course the internet helps quite a bit with that.

2004 was pretty fucking good... Kasabian anyone? Probably one of the best of this decade. Kasabian and Arcade Fire's debut ONE DAY APART from each other! Fucking hell!

I'd say 2005, however 2008 was actually surprisingly decent because 2007 was so shit.
my golden years are: 66-69 and of course 93-97
