ok last night i downloaded skype from here

www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/

anyway i have windows xp,the thing is i started chatting to someone & the time came up on the right hand side as i started typing,the thing is im not sure if they charge for using it,i've read through it but im not sure.

dores anyone know anything about this kinda thing,i dont have a clue to be honest

From what I understand, Skype is free unless you are using it to call other people on their phones. If you're using it to just Skype from computer to computer it should be free.

That's what I use it for, and I've never paid for anything.

We use it at work all the time for talking to work colleagues. We've all got a mic as well so we use Skype instead of the telephone, works very well actually (its free). My friends use it to talk to relatives in Australia etc, with a webcam and mic its superb as its obviously free and the qualitys pretty good.

Feel like janet jackson though with headphones/microphone sticking out but its all good
