ok last night i downloaded skype from here www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/anyway i have windows xp,the thing is i started chatting to someone & the time came up on the right hand side as i started typing,the thing is im not sure if they charge for using it,i've read through it but im not sure. dores anyone know anything about this kinda thing,i dont have a clue to be honest

From what I understand, Skype is free unless you are using it to call other people on their phones. If you're using it to just Skype from computer to computer it should be free.
That's what I use it for, and I've never paid for anything.

That's what I use it for, and I've never paid for anything. that is correct, i used it for years, then moved onto my mac, and now whenever i load skype i lose all internet to my computer except for skype - skype is the only thing that works when its loaded - very weird. i just use another machine when i need it.

That's what I use it for, and I've never paid for anything. i'd never use skype to phone i know they charge for that i was chatting to someone ont here few days ago & the time came up no the right hand side of the text as i were typing so i figured maybe i might be charged for it,like when im on msn the time dont show from when a conversation starts,i just thought it were abit weird. hey when you speak to someone on skype,having a conversation does the time show up no your comp of when the conversation starts? if so then i guess that's maybe how it is with skype. i'd rather be sure first i dont wanna be charged just for chattin to someone lol.

Yeah, it says how long the conversation's been going for. You don't get charged.

We use it at work all the time for talking to work colleagues. We've all got a mic as well so we use Skype instead of the telephone, works very well actually (its free). My friends use it to talk to relatives in Australia etc, with a webcam and mic its superb as its obviously free and the qualitys pretty good.
Feel like janet jackson though with headphones/microphone sticking out but its all good
