I know the general belief is that since singles and thus B-Sides don't really matter anymore because of the internet and both illegal and legal downloads, the boys have stopped releasing B-sides (for the most part).
That's definitely a legit. reason, and I don't discount that, but I do offer another perspective: Perhaps this was only used for DOYS?
I mean, if we look at the past year or so, DOYS has been a very different album within all respects.
From the sound: It's monotonous, groovy (I hate using that word but Noel's description is indeed accurate), and dark;
to the unique promotion: The street performers, the "graffiti" marketing scheme (picture here: ), the eccentric Russell Brand commercials, the cover art, etc
It's all very unique. Perhaps Oasis just continued that trend with the remixes?
Either way, while I do like some of the remixes and while I'd prefer good b-sides, I'm at the same time glad they didn't release b-sides. I mean, if it's a quality b-side we would all bitch why it was left off the album and/or not saved for following albums, and while we all want new Oasis material I personally would have to say the remixes are better than shit like The Quiet Ones thus it's a lose/lose situation when it comes to releasing b-sides for Oasis and us die hard fans.
Maybe it was a trial thing specific for the uniqueness of DOYS and if it was successful they would continue it; but if it was a failure (as I think it has been and I hope the band have realized) then they won't continue it?
Basically, I simply don't know. I'm hoping it's just a special thing they did for DOYS and we'll have some (average, not shit but not mega either) B-Sides for forthcoming albums.....

Just for DOYS i reckon ......... its that kinda album to do them for.
If the next album is gonna be more Orchastral / anthemic or whatever, then those songs may not fit in with the whole remix thing.

There's a bigger chance of predicting doomsday than a) what the new oasis album will sound like b) if they'll do remixes as b-sides
This thread is useless.

Yeah, let's not speculate but rather discuss things we already know because that isn't useless Sometimes I really wonder about you, and not in a good way
