It's a common reasoning that the first five songs and Falling Down (generally) are great, so judging the whole album because of the lack of quality at the end of the album is difficult, it is an excellent album for those tunes, but the weaker songs are a shame cos they have obviously spoilt it with songs like AGN...
6 - Song EP would be great!!

But if "Dig Out Your Soul" is such a great album? No, not to me. It's the worst album they ever made. Completely agree with mimmi. If I hadn't been listening to Oasis for 15 years I would never have bought Dig Out Your Soul. And if I had bought it I would probably have given it away. It's by far the worst album of their career and if this is how it's going to be from now on they should cut their losses and give it up now. Personally I blame Dave Sardy. And Noel for not insisting at least 90 per cent of it were his songs and for failing to record I Wanna Live In A Dream In My Record Machine simply because Liam went off to get married. We've been waiting three-and-a-half years for an album. We could have waited a couple more months if it meant another half-decent song. Clearly he just threw his toys out of the pram.

Clearly he just threw his toys out of the pram. i don't agree it's their worst album at all, but that statement I 100% agree with. It's total fucking laziness and Noel basically bottled it on the record. If they had a great version of that and also Come On, It's Alright waiting to be finished then they should have finished them and put them on the album. All killer, no filler should be the motto.

It has been said before, but Boy With The Blues would have made it a stronger album.

Ok - I just discovered Oasis because of DOYS. I heard Shock of the Lightning on the radio, and the name Oasis jarred my memory of some good songs from the 90's ("Whaaat's the story morning glory!")
Now - after some youtube/itunes search and purchase action - I've got about 20 Oasis songs. From my perspective I'd say the thing that people don't like about DOYS is that while it has a consistent sort of tone to it - there are some vastly different styles on it. So you might be into one type of song, but not another.
It has a few tracks that are the type I love, and I bought 5 songs off this album: For me - Soldier On and To Be Where there's Life and High Horse Lady are by far the best tracks. Those three in a row are a great listening experience. I'm Out of Time and Falling Down are both very pretty and well done - but I don't listened to them very much.
Shock of the Lightning and the Turning are very good - but both lack something for me, Aint got nothing needs guitar, Nature of Reality needs better vocals (beautiful guitar solo towards the end of it, though). Instrumentally Bag it Up is great - but those lyrics... really distract from the song.
Waiting for the Rapture - the less said the better, as far as I'm concerned.
But the musicianship of this album is very strong - it's just maybe a mish-mash of too many different styles. I don't love it cause it only has about 5 songs I'm into. I see some people on here have the opposite reaction to me - so, the overall verdict might be "Dig Out your Soul - too variable to please everybody".

It's strange that the 'growers' have been such instant hits with you.
I took the longest to like those 3, the first 5 tracks were pretty much instant hits to my ears.

Yeah, my musical tastes are outside of the mainstream. I was just thinking that that is a "problem" some people might have with Oasis. Some of their songs sound like they should be some top 40 hit from 1985, and others are just fucking out there. As a result - they're not fully mainstream, but they're not fully weird, either. So people have might have a hard time getting behind them. But, whatever - I like them.

Amazing album, their third best, I only don't like TNOR, but the rest is great. People have to pay atention with Soldier On, it's a grower, put the headphones and listem carefully how the instruments flow really well towards the half/end of the song.
DOYS - 9,0/10

no Bag it up is boring and for anyone who is an unbiased music listener who doesnt fanatasise about Noel's Cock in their mouth, its shit too.. The Turning matches the standards of Gas Panic at the Ver Best. Waiting For The Rapture is pretty boring on the album...However, live it comes into a completey new nature... The Shock of Lightening is as good as Hey Now and is actually very similar in How its written Because i can promise you...if they released Hey Now! as their first single you would all think its great too... Im Outta Time, Well, it sounds wierd...different, most people ive talked to say its gay That Liams trying to sound sensetive.. its also a bit droannnyyyyyy and very very Liamesque... and for those who claimed they cried when they heard IOT. especially the male members.....grow a fucking penis.....sadly the rest of this album sux...wether it included boy with the shoes or not....it sucks Perioed I have better things to do...see you all next week when ill talk more about something that members here really need to get aquanted with.... REALITYfair well chums ha ur so gay

I think you're on to what my point of view is there. But I disagree with AGN and Soldier On. That being said, I also think the Falling Down and High Horse are very unimpressive. But I'm still thinking.... Damn dude! The album's been out almost 4 months and still undecided?! J/k. I think the album itself is above average at best. Like a 3 or 3.5 out of 5 stars. There are some moments on the record where I'm like, damn Oasis wrote some of the best tunes of their career (particularly TSOTL, TT, TBWTL, IOT, BIU). The rest of the songs I find are just very good tunes. Not necessarily great tunes, but just solid album tracks. U make a good point.. But i would like to add that any other band releasing an album with 5 great tracks, a couple average tracks and a few bad tracks would be considered excellent by fans and critics. Look @ KOLs current album, @ best there are 5/6 good tracks and ppl are raving about it. Are Oasis a let down with the same amount of good tracks?? NO. Are Oasis a let down with the same amount of good tracks based on their back catalogue and first 2(or maybe 3) albums?? YES! It almost as if oasis need to release an album that is 10 out of 10 to even be considered a 7 out of 10. We all know thats not going to happen. So for as long as they put out music ppl will bag them based on former acheivements / albums.. and thats a real shame because, if u ask me, some of their best stuff has come post be here now. Again as a whole the first 2/3 will never be beaten, but thats not to say because of that their music / albums are shit. If that were the case no one would like to any band thats had more than 3 or 4 albums! thats my opinion.. thoughts? P.S. Bag It Up really does it for me.. great great tune.. how anyone can compare that to nickleback is beyond me!
