Which song off the album really surprised you the most as being a track you thought you maybe wouldn't of liked that much but ended up being one of your favorites?
To me, when I first saw the tracklist, I instantly thought The Turning was Andy's track. I don't know why, but it just seemed to fit him for some reason. But anyway, The Turning really surprised me on how fresh it sounded to me! It sounds like nothing Oasis has ever done before, but at the same time, it's pure Oasis! It's weird how that works.. But yeah, didn't see that coming!

The Turning surprised me too. Not because I initially thought it was crap, or whatever, but because it's the first really really great Oasis song, in my opinion, since the 90s. This song would have easily fitted on DM/WTSMG/BHN. It's epic, and it surprised me to know that Oasis still had it - something the album as a whole confirmed for me. But I should never really have doubted it in the first place.

Am I the only one who thinks The Turning is good without being amazing?

Am I the only one who thinks The Turning is good without being amazing? No you're not...The Turning is a big favourite on this forum but like you i've never been overwhelmed by it, nor do i think the listening public would be if it were released as a single.

waiting for the rapture, to me
i'm still trying to understand what Noel sings at the end.. "you can dig my soul on (in?) the ground / like a million more, don't let me down own own" is this it?

Falling Down. Biggest surprise is how underwhelmed I am by the song. Thought it was cool when I first heard it. Found it very flat after a few listens.

I think Bag It Up and The Turning were really surprising, specially because of the way Liam sings the verses, so calm just to explode in the chorus, it sounded a lot different from anything they ever done for me...

Had to be Bag it Up and Waiting For The Rapture. Both songs caught me off guard. I instantly fell in love with the album after the first 5 songs.

Waiting For The Rapture for me, too. 'LEFT MY SOUL ON THE GROUND/ LIKE A MILLION MORE THAT HAVE ME DOWN." - I have closed captioned on my TV and was watching the Wembley concert. This is what it said...

the turning sounds like Oasis to me, but it suprised me that it coulda been on the early albums.
I'm suprised by peoples thoughts on Falling Down, amazing tune and top live too

When I first heard the album I was VERY impressed with the whole thing. I wasn't expecting such a good record from them. The first 5 songs obviously surprised me a lot and they still do except for maybe IOT which I think is overrated.
Bag It Up is the song that surprises me the most. It's a shame they won't do it live and there's no excuse for it. The buskers did a great job on it so Oasis, being pros and having written the song themselves, should too...

Bag It Up no other Oasis song has that march to it.

Am I the only one who thinks The Turning is good without being amazing? it's the arrangement and production. they could have made the choruses longer, louder and improved the production of the song to make it better but it's good enough. it's unlikely but i hope it gets a makeover for a possible single release like elevation (by U2) got for its release.

i think the turning is just "alright" nothing out of this world.
i gotta say the song that really hit the spot for me was "To be where there's life" that song ROCKS! and live... wow!
i thought Bag it Up was exceptional, as well as I'm outta Time and Waiting for the Rapture. The shock of the lightning is awesome as well.

The most suprising thing for me in the energy in the album. It seems to be louder and brasher than anything I expected. I wasn't holding much hope for IOT and I love it, I was expecting big things from HHL cause I like the name but I don't like it that much.

For me, it was Bag It Up. I really think this is the best opener of an Oasis album alongside D'you Know What I Mean?. It blew me away! Awesome song!

Waiting for the rapture suprised me because it's so different to anything they have done before and for the first day or 2 I didnt take to but then I fell in love with it. The sitar based groove in to be where there is life was also a pleasent suprise.
Hell thhe whole album was a suprise because they havent released anything of this quality for almost 10 years!

yes, but it was too acoustic, like they were back to using distortion, electric guitars, writing rock anthems like Bag It Up, The Turning, Shock Of THe Lightning..ect

TNOR. I don't get the hate everyone has for it. Maybe people were expecting more from Andy because of his superior songs on DBTT? I dunno.... but it's definitely not the piece of dog shite everyone makes it out to be.

^^ Actually, it is.
Most surprising song was Falling Down. Noel actually trying something different.
Waiting For The Rapture wasn't too surprising for me, the album version anyway, cos I've heard Five To One by The Doors.
What wasn't a surprise was that Noel picked the most 'Oasis-y' song on the record for the first single. Quite surprising that it turned out to be such a sub-par song, though.
