There's a problem with my internet connection which has been gradually driving me mental. Regardless of whether I use Internet Explorer or Firefox, sometimes (about twice a day usually) I click on a link to a different website and in the bar at the bottom of the window I'll get the message; "Connecting to website name*..." And as soon as that comes up, I know my internet's gone suddenly. By that I mean that no other website will work, I will just get "Connecting to..." and then eventually the Timed Out screen. Somehow Windows Live Messenger isn't affected by this - I can still talk to people over it. Had the problem for a couple of years now, I'm on Vista but I had the problem with my old XP computer. I'm living at home - my dad has an XP computer downstairs and it happens to him sometimes too. If one computer gets the problem, it affects the other computer too. The way we fix it is by turning off the power to the router, waiting about twenty seconds, then plugging it in again. It's still annoying though. We're with Virgin Media if that's any help!

Usually that only happens to me when there is a problem with the certain website I'm going to. I suggest contacting your ISP and going from there.

doesnt sound like a virus to me the fact it affects both comps and clears when you reboot the router sounds like a router problem
i get the same every few days my router is a netgear from sky going into the diagnostics screen by typing 192.168.0.1 into the browser and then rebooting it usually works
i agree you should contact your isp
be interested to hear their answer
