Can someone help me with this problem I have been trying to solve for my friend for the past month? okay here is the info:
He has a Dell Dimension 8250 Desktop. When he was on myspace a program was downloaded from a pop up of some sort. after that download he said that the computer just freezes up now. he tried to revert back to a save point but it would not even let me do that. then he tried to put the original factory reboot cd in and it froze, so now everytime he turns his computer on it freezes.
I have had no luck in helping him out and I am hoping someone here might be able to help! thanks in advance for any help!
Note: he does not mind losing is data at this point as long as he computer is back to normal!

if he went back to original setting and still happens it might be something else did he run any memory/hdd checks? tell him to d/l Hirens boot , it's an utility cd. he has to boot with it and run the mem test and hard disk drive test (there's many of them, according to the company, the best one IMO is the HItachi DFT tool)

enter the bios setup by pressing Del when booting the computer..select cd/dvd drive as primary boot source. exit and save bios. insert reboot cd and restart computer. if system still freezes try booting from an ordinary windows cd (98, 2000, xp or vista) or a knoppix live cdif you can enter setup from cd format hard drive first then reinstall windows
