If Falling Down was released as a single I think it could stop the decline of DOYS.
I love it and it's the best thing they have done in years.
After they released SOTL and IOT it's not unreasonable that the average music buyer will assume that DOYS is another of the same formulaic oasis albums they have released since BHN.
They had the predictable rocker (GLIO, HT, Lyla,) and then the equally predictable slow gushy sway whilst you hold your candle (SCYHO, LTBL..) anthem.
I love both the singles but its not going to win new fans. I know most people have written DOYS as another oasis by numbers album,
This is a shame as it has some great stuff on it but it's fall from the charts (even in their home land) and not even a number 1 single in the UK shows people think they have seen it all before.
Falling Down should be released as a single as it's EPIC, edgy, experimental and nothing like any Beatles song Iv'e heard (well I'm not a big Bee attles fan so may be I don't know what I'm talking about)
It's also a perfect single for the times we are now facing. If you read the lyrics they seem to reflect what's going on now.
It sounds contemporary and innovative, not stodgy and derivative.
Lets hope they see sense and release falling Down before DOYS is lost forever.
I know people say they don't care if they win new fans or not but to me oasis has always been about being massive. That's when they are at their best. Their music deserves to be heard in Stadiums not small theatres.
Summer sun that blows my mind Is falling down on all that I've ever known Time to kiss the world goodbye Falling down on all that I've ever known Is all that I've ever known. Is all that I've ever known. Is all that I've ever known.
Crying scream... it makes no sound Calling out to all that I've ever known Here am I, lost and found Calling out to all Summer sun That blows my mind Time to kiss the world goodbye
We live a dying dream If you know what I mean Summer sun that blows my mind Now we'll kiss the world goodbye

just like IOT was going to save DOYS. its time for people to face oasis are what they are... a band with a great following, the majority of music fans wrote off oasis 10 years ago and thats not gonna change. Oasis had their day, its past, enjoy them for what they are now.

But Falling Down sounds fresh and modern. I just think oasis aren't doing themselves justice. The Turning is another edgy song which doesn't sound liek it was made in teh 60's.
I know what you are saying but sometimes oasis release the wrong songs.

a re-arranged version of the turning with more guitars would make them more fans.

If you want singles go listen to HC; it has big singles. Nothing off DOYS is commercial enough to have any impact.

Frankly, i think that falling down is a better song then IOT but, IOT is much more radio-friendly. IOT is a beatyfull balad while Falling down has a darker side. I Dont think falling down will get more airplay then IOT got, and as time goes by, the fuss about oasis new album\singles just dissapeares so, basicly i think Falling down will get the same chance GOYHHL could get from the media..................................

since when is DOYS declining? Noel said about 100 different times there were no hits on it. it just isn't that kind of record. as long as fans enjoy it who gives a shit. Oasis are Oasis, they don't need to try and please everyone or "turn it around," they can't keep being the band to play Knebworth all over again. they don't need to even try. they'd fill any stadium no matter what they did in the future. just let them do what they want, they've already kind of "been there, done that"...

.....I always thought of Falling Down as sounding more like The Beatles than any other song on the album....
The first thing I thought of when I heard the song was how similar it sounded to Tomorrow Never Knows and a few of the other Beatles tracks from 1966-1968. And I know other people have commented on how it sounds like Noel was trying to rewrite Tomorrow Never Knows.
In my opinion... Falling Down would be a great single to release, but it certainly wouldnt change peoples minds when it comes to ripping off The Beatles

I've always loved FD but after hearing the vocal cut of it I just love the music even more.

It's not only that Oasis are an afterthought in North Amercia, but it's also an indication that in this TMZ generation there is only space for over the top pop acts. Even if Falling Down had some sort of commercial success, it would still relatively not be that big with the way the industry is now.

Falling Down has been getting a lot of radioplay at the biggest radio station here. It's weird that they don't play TSOL as much as Falling Down, since Lightning is more "commercial".

TSOTL and IOT were the most commercial songs off DOYS and they didn't do all that well. Falling Down wouldn't do any better.

This is dreamland. I love Falling Down, it's the best thing on the album, but it's not going to "turn" anything.
IMO, TSOTL is a highly underwhelming single and did not help launch the album in any way beyond the fanbase.

IMO, TSOTL is a highly underwhelming single and did not help launch the album in any way beyond the fanbase. Agree. They should have started with another first single just to get non fan base people to see that this album doesn't sound like the same old Oasis they've always been hearing. Should have started off with Falling Down or IOT. That and the TSOTL video was pointless too and that didn't help its cause.

I don't think they should make Falling Down the 3rd single. It was already released... remember that shite remix by the Chemical Bros. I they wanna put something out that isn't the typical Oasis it should be To Be Where There's Life... not only is it the best song on the album, but it sounds the least Oasis-y of anything to date.
