A much harder decision than that other farce of a poll involving Wonderwall
Personally, it's a tie, but Slide Away gets the edge - the "And I'm gonna try now/Gonna make you mine now" along with the equally hidden "I dont know/I dont care/All I know is that you can take me there" are phenomenal
Slide Away is incredible
My 2 favorite Oasis songs without a doubt.

this is insanely hard. Both are some of the best songs ever written. Great intro's; thumping drums in LF to the opening chords of SA, Great Outros the guitar solo on LF to the soaring closing of SA. Its insanely hard to pick. I think i'm gonna go with SA though i'm just feeling that one day.

I would say Slide Away, both probably as good as each other but in different ways and I'm a bit bored of Live Forever at the moment to be honest but it's still one of their best.

i don't think this competition is fair to Slide Away, wich is a wonderful and poweful song, truly classic
but come on.. Live Forever is one of the 10 best songs of all time!

Live Forever is my favorite Oasis song and one of my favorite tunes ever. It's brilliant.
Slide Away is amazing too but it drags on a bit too long for me at times. That being said, Noel's acoustic versions of it are just fabulous and chock-full of emotion.

The more i think about it, the more I'm convinced Slide Away is my all time favorite tune, with Live Forever just behind it.
There's something truly special to SA for me, and the 2 'hidden' lyrical parts (And I'm Gonna Try now/Gonna Make you mine now; AND I don't know, I don't care....) are so special.
The fact that both these songs appear on the same album cement Def. Maybe as not only the best debut album ever, but one of the best albums ever, cos then you also add the likes of Coloumbia, Cigs and Alc, Supersonic, Rock n Roll Star......Every so often when you deeply think about this band, it really is incredible how good they are, how special they are. And once again, the few naysayers on this forum, and the many Americans who believe Oasis don't/won't deserve to be amongst the very best are fooling themselves.

Both are in my top 2, every day. What can we say about them ?
Live Forever is certainly the most powerful song of all the time. Everything on it, is beyond brilliance (lyrics, solo, vocals). And the meaning is simply deep perfection.
Slide Away is one of the best love song ever, if not the best. It's just so pure and youthful. That song hits everytime I listen to it, the lyrics are gorgeous, Liam's interpretation again more.
Two of the greatest songs, ever.

Not a hard choice for me at all. It took me some time to like Slide Away, and I like it now, but it's too..intense? I can't always listen to it while I loved Live Forever instantly.

I love them both, but I vote for Slide Away
I never got Live Forever, the demo is wonderfull and I prefer the demo above any other (Oasis) song but on the album version I prefer Slide Away

Listened to Slide Away today when I saw this thread, and it absolutely blew me away... Staggering how that can still happen with Oasis... I keep thinking 'I must have overplayed these songs by now', but no, they just keep coming back for more!
Still gotta go Live Forever though; it's my third favourite Oasis tune - has been for a long time, and I suspect it always will be.
