... was amazing ! This was my first oasis show ever, i've been a fan since around 2005/06 and finally got to see them live this year, and have to say i was very pleased! Liam's singing was great throughout the entire show, and the band played really well. I know theres been alot made out of the band seeming like 'they don't care' when they're on stage, but noel and liam were connecting with the crowd all night and pulled out all the stops in each song's performance. I can recall twice in between songs noel pointed out a guy's shirt and mocked it saying it reminded him of an acid trip he once had, and also stopped to pick up a shoe that was tossed on stage saying something like 'now whoever's this was will have frostbite on their way home tonight' and started questioning whos it was. Liam said a few things cant remember to be specific, but the point is the band DID connect with the crowd. I actually was just in awe for the first half, i honestly didn't believe it when ''fuckin' in the bushes' started playing and the band began to walk on stage. The only thing that came to mind was 'holy shit oasis is on stage in front of me' lol. But once i got over that it was the most fun i've had in a while, singing to Morning glory and don't look back in anger, i hope they tour again so i can get to see them a second time! Bought a nice shirt as well, came with DOYS. So Oasis were good, that's to be expected, i do have one complaint though, and that is that Ryan adams and the cardinals are SHIT!! Everyone who was with me there all agreed it was like some sort of bad mix of country and rock. Every single one of his songs ended up in looping into endless jam sessions and guitar solos with a country twist. It was bad. Matt Costa was better, and he opened to them. Actually Matt Costa was very good, minus maybe the song he did with no instruments in the end. Also - special thanks to fellow member hurricaneoasis without you i would have never gotten those tickets ;] some pics:

It was fucking amazing. My first show too. They played everything perfectly, and liam sounded great. The only thing I have to complain about is, that a few of us waited outside in the fucking cold for an hour and a half and they couldn't even come out to say hi and take some pictures. Shit, it was freezing cold and raining and they couldn't come out for a few minutes? Come on. I hope they came out after we left though, just for the few people who waited out there longer than us.
And I have to disagree with you about Ryan Adams. That was an awesome performance. I don't even like them that much, but that performance was amazing.
Anyway, we originally had seats off to the side on the elevated seats and my dad payed an usher $20 to get me and my friend floor seats. And the whole show was way better from down there. So much more energy, and it was nice to smell some people smoking pot. Glad that bit of rock n roll hasn't died. And what was with all the douchey, snotty college kids?
Fucking great show lads, it was a fucking pleasure.

I absolutely agree. I have listened to every bootleg I could from this tour, and this show has to be near the top. I saw them in cleveland in 2005 and this show was 10x better. guitars sounded better, liam sounded perfect, and chris blows zak out of the water. He has so much energy, I got chills when he started playing the beats for TSOL And supersonic.
Also it seemed like liam and Noel enjoyed the crowd because they were very nice. The thing about the shoe was hilarious. Noel asked if it was a man's or a womans, and kept sayin " I know it's one of you two, so somebody needs to fess up. Unless it's from one of our crew, which would be disturbing" Then he dedicated DLBIA to everyone with two shoes on.
All in all, great show, great venue, and it was like I saw a different band from 2005

It was just amazing. They were extremely appreciative (or good at faking it) with the people that showed up. Everyone who was there really wanted to be there. It just amazing... and miles better than Toronto.

yea, I think the weather definitely affected the turnout, we saw a ton of wrecks there and the way back. Teh crowd seemed really into it to, especially during IATW. By the way, I never noticed the Gem puts on a show all by himself, he is a badass when he plays guitar. You can never tell from live videos because they switch people every second, but aside from during the champagne supernova solo, Gem was more entertaining to watch than noel

You forgot to mention that he took the shoe with him, so the idiot who threw the shoe ended up leaving the venue and walk back to his or her car in the freezing icy snow. I was seated 8th row right in front of Noel. I was the guy who yelled 'Noel, you're the man", to which he responded with 'What?" The show was the best Oasis concert I've been to so far! Great energy, and the band were more interactive this time around. I've got pictures and videos. For the video go to: but I must WARN you that the sound is overamplified...I'm very disappointed myself with the quality, but who cares, IT'S OASIS!

I really enjoyed it. It was my second time, after seeing the Meadow Brook show in '05. The new stuff works brilliant live, and the DOYS videos they played with them were really cool. It was great being on the floor when they played Cigarettes & Alcohol. I love what Noel did with DLBIA. Getting to see The Masterplan and I Am The Walrus was excellent.
We weren't there for Matt Costa (never heard of him), but in all honesty, Ryan Adams and the Cardinals were good enough that I'm going to check out their stuff and maybe even buy some CDs. I was just familiar with that New York song from like seven years ago. Forget however he comes off in the press.

I was there. They were perfect. Highlights were Waiting for the rapture, the masterplan, slide away, champagne supernova and to be where there's life(which surprised me). Beside the idiot behind chanting noel behind me(it's fine to do that but he pronounced it No-el) it was a great geat gig. Liam was in tune and powerful the entire gig. And boy, Sharrack hits that kit haaard.

"Tonight," Oasis lead singer Liam Gallagher sneered into the microphone at the Palace of Auburn Hills Saturday night, "I'm a rock and roll star."
That he certainly is. Gallagher was put on this planet for the express purpose of being a rock and roll star, and he remains a fascinating, antagonistic, combustible presence on stage. But within the confines of a more-than-half-empty arena -- the reported attendance for Saturday's concert was 6,200, but it looked to be even less than that -- do we need to shift the definition of what constitutes a rock and roll star?
The economy has certainly taken a toll on local rock and roll shows; the black curtains that section off the upper deck have become a fixture at shows at the Palace. But even at the height of its popularity in the mid-90s, Oasis couldn't sell out the Palace, so why was it playing the venue now?
The empty seats dampened the mood in the room, and Oasis didn't go out of its way to heighten the crowd's spirits. The band members tend to be rather aloof on stage -- guitarist Gem Archer and bassist Andy Bell pretty much just stand there, as does Noel Gallagher, the band's songwriter and leader -- so eyes tend to fix on Liam, who seems ready to storm off the stage at any given moment. He creates an odd dynamic with the audience, whether blankly staring down members of the crowd or proudly standing with his back to them, but damn if he doesn't do it with iconic style. To paraphrase M.I.A., no one on the corner's got swagger like Liam.

Even that tends to wear thin, however, and it wasn't enough to carry the show through the laborious sections of Oasis' one hour, 45-minute set. While new song "Shock of the Lightning" fits in with the band's most explosive material -- it will likely remain a fixture long after touring behind the band's current album "Dig Out Your Soul" is finished -- other new offerings dragged, including "I'm Outta Time" and "Waiting for the Rapture."
The opening suite of "Rock & Roll Star," "Lyla," "Shock of the Lightning" and "Cigarettes and Alcohol" kicked off the evening on a high, but the band droned its way through sluggish renditions of "Morning Glory," "Supersonic" and the crowd favorite "Wonderwall." Luckily, "Champagne Supernova" cut through the clutter, soaring to the great highs it does on record, while closer "I Am the Walrus" -- an Oasis standby for years and years -- delivered in typical fashion.
The brothers Gallagher were in amiable spirits, with Noel lightly chiding a fan for throwing a shoe on stage and Liam pantomiming sexual acts to several crowd members. But you couldn't shake the feeling the show would have played better in a smaller setting, as Oasis' arena days seem to have long since expired.
Openers Ryan Adams and the Cardinals were, too, dwarfed by the size of the Palace, though the band's electrifying one-hour set hit all the right notes. Half the material came from the band's recent "Cardinology," and the set shifted comfortably from bluesy country ("Two") to swirling rock (a ramped-up "Off Broadway").
Adams, who is as famously testy on stage as the evening's headliners, joked around with guitarist Neal Casal, with the free-flowing conversation ranging from Journey's Steve Perry to a 1989 Cinderella show at the Palace to the days when the Detroit Pistons were known as the Bad Boys.

I don't know, maybe it was just the fact that i really wanted to see oasis and ryan adams + the cardinals were just taking forever.. there was also a guy yelling 'Neil!' right behind me, i just wanted to start yelling 'Noel!'
-Bah critics are shite, i'm sure that guy/girl/whover the fuck who wrote that wasn't even an oasis fan. It doesn't take a lot of reasearch on wikipedia to find out a few facts such as, the band were alot bigger in the mid 90's and they're known to stand on stage. Maybe if all these reviewers weren't to busy worrying about fitting in with the other critics they could have actually WATCHED gem and noel, who actually do alot when they play. Sure, they arn't prancing around other parts of the stage, but i saw noel slide his guitar across is mic stand and a whole bunch of other showmanship things during the set.

Ummm...he might want to mention the low attendance might have had something to do with the hellish weather. It sleeted/rained/snowed/iced starting from at least at 4 pm (that's when I left Ohio). If it had been any other band, I wouldn't have gone. I thought I was going to die on the shitty unsalted Michigan highways. But it was totally worth the drive And I just want to say, I now hate Ryan Adams and the Cardinals with a fiery, fiery passion. Why would Oasis have a pretend-rock-country-western-shit band open for them? And they played a long time... But man, Oasis was seriously awesome last night. This was my third gig and it was by far the best. And I finally got to see "Supersonic" live. It was fantastic!

Also I agree about the weather, it was terrible, it took 2.5 hours to get back with all the wrecks. I don't even think the reviewer was at the show, because morning glory sounded great and I thought supersonic was one of the best songs they played, Chris HAMMERs the kick drum, which gave supersonic something extra.

And I just want to say, I now hate Ryan Adams and the Cardinals with a fiery, fiery passion. Why would Oasis have a pretend-rock-country-western-shit band open for them? They did tour with the Black Crowes, y'know ... Also a band called Acetone opened for them and the Verve in the mid 90's ... they weren't so much country but they did have a lot of country influences. Now I love all three of those bands and THAT would've been the show to go to. Apart from the big stadium shows, I wish the hardest I hadn't missed that. I dunno, I just think it's good to have some soulful country tinged rock pumped into you before a band like Oasis comes on, but I'm sure many will disagree. It was better than Jet.

I forgot to add, that I'm pretty sure Oasis, or someone on the tour stayed at my hotel (Hyatt place). Two of their tour buses were parked outside in the parking lot. Did anyone that stayed there, see them?
