NME - 8/10: "Better than Definitely Maybe? Of course not! Their best since Morning Glory? Definitely!"
Q - 3/5: "Noel writes comes up with a handful of brilliant tracks, but unfortunately age has softened his heart and he allows the rest of the band to contribute songs which are sub-par"

The Q review is all right, though I bit unfair and dismissive to I'm Outta Time and To Be Where There's Life. Surprisingly, they loved (GOY)HHL described it as something like Pink Floyd walking into Zeppelin III. They also loved all of Noel's tunes. The 3/5 is fucking shit though, considering Keane got a 4/5 in the same album. Keane! Their album was horrible shit.

i think peoples final opinion on the albums rests on whether you like HHL, TBWTL, AGN, NOR, SO.
personally i love all of them (not so much NOR)

NME gave it 8/10 and a mature honest review.
Q gave it a balanced 3/5 and failed to say anything positive.
Why Oasis bother with Q is beyond me.
Q put Oasis on the cover so Q can sell more than usual in a month. Oasis also get good media attention. Yet Q constantly knocks every Oasis album.

Actually they gave SOTSOG and DBTT 4/5 and DBTT won the Q Album Of The Year Award. However, they've given HC 2/5 and DOYS 3/5 so its a mixed bag

Q gave SOTSOG 4/5 and then 2/5 when they released stop the clocks. They had a feature on them and had mini reviews on all albums... (may not have been that issue- but they definitely changed the score when doing a feature)
I wouldn't worry too much about NME either. They originally gave "the stone roses" 7/10 (possibly 6) but when they did the usual "TOP 100 ALBUMS EVER" thing a few years ago it was number 1.

The Rolling Stone (another shit rag) famously hated Led Zeppelin. I'd be willing to bet that nearly all of Zeppelin's albums have been changed to 4 or 5/5s over the course of the years. Journalism is such a fickle business.

Or maybe it's just that the albums have all been very mixed bags - hence the mixed reviews. For me it's a 2 or 3 out of 5 album. There are about four really strong songs on there, the rest are very average to poor.

It may just be that its just one person who reviews an album and he/she either like it or they dont. Most reviewers are very unprofessional these days I find. No talk of the music what so ever... a lot just seem to try and sound clever and be negative. Its just annoying because you get told an album is crap and only 4/10 or 2 stars... but you dont actually know why??
DOYS dies a slow death once falling down ends and well, if only 7/11 tracks are good its not going to get a top review. 3/5 is fair.
Personally, SOTSOG is my favourite oasis album since 2000 and that got the worst reviews.
Just my opinion

its not that I think the songs are crap... (and it should be 8/11 cos i like "to be where there's life, the live version is better, mind) The album just loses all its momentum towards the end. I know I'm not the only person who thinks this.
I would have been more interested in hearing a liam sung version of "stop the clocks" to close the album. "(soldier on" is quite cool but it just lacks something in my eyes)... It could have been crap, would still liked to hear it though. haha.
Just my opinion
