There has be rumors that these two great tracks aren't performed live because they are complicated and "unplayable" (from a technical viewpoint) live, I remember (probably) that Noel has said something like "we've tried to rehearse it in the studio, f-ed up and gave it up" Now the theory has got an additional confirmation: (Noel's quote from the today's newsroom) "This is the first time we've ever not played an album live in the studio together," Gallagher points out. "This is all virtually hung around a drum loop and a bass line, and then we just start and we build it from there. So we were trying to create it like you would create dance music; we weren't really set on the arrangements. We had the songs, the words and the melodies. The rest of it was all up for grabs." Coupled with shifts in the band's personnel (Zak Starkey left the band and was replaced by former Robbie Williams drummer Chris Sharrock for the current tour), the new method has made for some uncertain moments in the band's live performances. "Number one," he says, "we had to break in a new drummer, and number two, we had to play songs off a new album that we'd never played before. It had all been done on the computer. So for the first few weeks, it was a bit — I gotta say, it was a bit shit, it was a bit, fucking, 'Oh, my God, this isn't going to work.' But it clicked in the end." That probably explains why they they don't play Bag It Up and The Turning (High Horse Lady, Nature of Reality and Soilder On are probably not performed live for another reason ) It's a shame because Bag It Up and The Turning are great tracks, and can you imagine Liam singing the latter's chorus at the Wembley Stadium with the whole crowd jumping up and down... ah

I can understand Bag It Up being maybe technically difficult but The Turning?, surely they can pull that one off, just drop the little dear prudence style outro (although this is good) and your left with a pretty simple melody, I know the argument is that there are no real guitars on the song but take a listen to To Be Where There's Life live and the argument is blown out of the water, it's one of the best songs from this tour and there ain't one fucking guitar on the album version. I really think The Turning would sound great live but I fear we'll never get the chance to find out

they are fucking lazy twats. Like most typical oasis songs, Bag It Up has 3-5 chords. The Turning a few more. They're just lazy. Tired of the excuses with these guys. Its not like either one of those songs is Stairway to Heaven.

imagine if they started the gig by playing bag it up!
That opening riff would tear the roof off!

The "new drummer" excuse really doesn't cut it. He's been playing the songs for 3 months now, it's not as if he can't handle a couple of new songs now and again.

If I never get to see them play The Turning live, I'll be majorly fucked off.

as metioned about a zillion times, the omission of BOTH The Turning AND Bag It Up is excruciating.
nearly unforgiveable, actually.

Too empty? They've got an additional keyboard player at the gigs. Jay Darlington could easily play the keyboard parts on The Turning.
OR, they could alter the arrangements a bit and just play the songs differently than they are on the record.
I'd also just put my money on the guess they're basically too lazy.

i don't know if The Turning would sound so great live.. vocally at least.. Liam would sing the verses ok but at the chorus i can imagine him shouting more than anything about Bag It Up, this a shame, really.. it would be a fuckin great gig opener!

those little kids from youtube can play those fucking songs with out them sounding "empty." It's fucking excuses not to include two of the best songs of DOYS. Its nonsense. Really it is.

there are some very fucking good versions of BIT on youtube so Oasis must certainly be capable of getting it right, and I'm sure they could get Gem to play another guitar part on the turning of they wanted to, they do it on TBWTL... and empty sounding? they play fucking songbird!... I'm not sure if they're lazy or unsure of Liam voice or the reception the songs would get... it's fucking sad
BIT as a gig opener would be colossal

Come on. These kids are like 13. The guys who actually wrote the song can't even get it right. Just for that, I should boycott this tour.

They're not willing to take the time to organize these songs so that they'll sound "good" live. Noels worried about little imperfections like the multiple drum tracks on BIU, the keyboards on The Turning, but really those arent that hard to work around. I highly doubt anyones gonna listen to a live version of BIU and say "wow... this song sounds like shit w/o the second drum track... they should stop playing this live". And the piano chords on The Turning could easily be played as guitar chords and itd still sound great Im sure. I dont think Ive ever heard of a band who toured an album w/o playing either of the first 2 tracks..... its to be expected
I dont know why theyre so worried about new songs sounding right... because I dont think Lyla or Songbird have ever sounded that great live... and yet theyre played every god damn night.

the excuse of BIU having two drums is BS. I can play it on drums and it sounds perfectly fine. TT would be sick as hell. These are some of the best songs that they have ever done. Play them!
