The best argument in reply to your question is that odds are pretty good that we'll never hear these songs that Noel is mentioning anyway. They'll have some "new inspiration" when they next go into the studio, and these songs that they think will comprise the next record will get binned. So why hoard them? Shell them out and make people interested in buying singles again. At the least, promise us some sort of EP of leftovers between LPs (a la Coldplay).

If people refuse to buy the single and it limps into the charts at number 29 they might just think twice about taking the piss.

The great thing in the past was that even after you'd bought the album you still knew you'd hear new songs (and good ones too) when the singles were released.

The thing about CDs being old news is a fair point but it means we're unlikely hear any new Oasis material for the next three years.

Meanwhile we've got a tour with a 13-year-old setlist and an album with about eight decent songs on it. Oh, and Boy With The Blues isn't bad.

For a band like Oasis it's not really good enough, is it?
