Now before you go crazy, i'm not here to claim that noel is a thief or any crap like that, just wondering if anyone here reconizes other songs in the album (i think its a great way to get know songs u never heard. For instance, i'm sure some of you noticed similarity between WFTR and the doors' 5 to 1 (to me it also reminds a bit of im the walrus and white stripes' hardest button to button)
Anyone got more..?

Think there's another thread knocking around about this? (Mods?)
Either way the answer is: YES. LOADS.

You have to remember these things can happen with musicians by total accident, for example i write songs, and came up with a guitar tune out of nowhere which actually sounds alot like my sweet lord, i didnt know the chords to that song beforehand and had to ask someone what song it sounded like, but i thought if noel gallagher does it then i can do it, as long as the actual melody is different
Obviously Noel actually putting them on albums is a different story, but my point is that i dont always think he sets out to steal a tune or a riff

you know what I find funny....how come Noel gets sh*t for 'rapture' sounding like the door's '5 to 1'.... yet Jack White doesn't??? Guess it is cause Noel's open about it....
and both 'rapture' and 'hardest button' sound like the doors.

Shock of Lightning has the Pretty Vacant (Sex Pistols) riff in it. They even asked Steve Jones (Pistols guitarist) to play it for them!

what pisses me off is that when noel steals something its plaugerism but in fucking hip hop and rap every artist uses the same words in every song i.e "club" "ho" "gangster" "club again" "pimp" and "motherfucker" nobody takes any notice but if noel takes something small oasis are suddenly just a cover band

Kanye West has gotta be the biggest sample thief going.

GOYHHL a straight steal of Hi Heel Sneekers melody SPOT ON. By far the most blatant, obvious nick on the record (and up there with Shakermaker as one of the most obvious of Noel's career). Even the lyrics are a blatant swipe (high horse/high heeled).

High Horse is such a standard blues melodies. i really don't find anything wrong with it cause that melody has been used A BAZILLION TIMES.
i think it's funny people are finding multiple songs for each song.
Bag it Up- Baron Saturday The Turning- Devil Woman/noel said like stone roses(somebody here said part of fools gold) WFTR- 5 to 1 SOTL- that one indie band/strokes(the way it is)/apparently a stereolab song i'm outta time- jealous guy GOYHH- high sneakers/loads of other blues songs falling down- tomorrow never knows to be where there's life- blur's stereotypes/alice in chain song NOR- helter skelter SO- some travis song was mention

I think that's a bit of an easy out for this tune (which is the excuse we also all trot out for Cigs & Alcohol): it's not just the melody, it's EVERYTHING about the song! "Get off your hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh horse lady..." "Put on your hiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh heeled sneakers..."

of course there will always be a bit but people are getting crazed. waiting for the rapture was originally a quiet acoustic song like the alternate version but then him and gem started jamming and suddenly they got hit with that riff.

Yeah, if you listen to the recording at Wembley Noel even plays the guitar riff to The End (also by The Doors) before Waiting For The Rapture! ;D
