You can drink on trains.
Mind you alcohol was banned on the train back from the Sunderland/Fulham match last night, but that's because Leeds were in town as well.

Here in NY you've gotta drink it in a brown bag or else it is illegal (don't ask me why)...I don't know about anywhere else

most trains either have a bar or a trolley selling beer
am flyin to london in an hour or so (well check in)then have to get train from london waterloo to bournemouth so better get a beer
