SO is NOT shit. lyrics aren't good but still better than AGN's, the last minute or so is GENIUS. it's got a lot of layers with different stuff going on, you just have to listen carefully. the piano bit at the end sounds like something from Pink Floyd's Animals, the melodica or whatever it is sounds fucking great. GOOD SONG with a positive message that comes across even though it has some poor lyrics (not as bad as some people claim), GREAT production, GREAT vocals, GREAT groove... fitting end to a class album. I listened to it today again and I still can't find a weak song. every single track is at least decent and most sound even better on context. I don't think I'll grow tired of this album really. Agree with everything you said. I love "Soldier On" Great groove, awesome vocals, perfectly produced, good lyrics and fits nicely as the closing track!

If I'm allowed to say my very true opinion about this album and don't get me wrong people cos I still love the lads, they're one of my lifetime bands... But I still need to give it more listen.

Even NOR, which I consider to be weaker than every other song on the album, is the best 'worst' song of all of their albums so far. AND IT ISN'T EVEN CLOSE! 10 years from now when the critics/experts rank the best Oasis albums, DOYS will rank in their top 3, no matter what their preferences are. This is the best Oasis album of the new millenium. ehh... I think every song from BHN is better than NoR, GOYHHL, and AGN. Id even say the same about DM and SOTSOG prolly...

To be honest I'd need to give the album a rest it's on the verge of overkill having played it flat out sense the leak and even more so after getting the CD, but coming up to my first gig on Wednesday I can't see that happening. Bag It Up, The Turning, The Shock and Falling Down have been played out of their skin. Waiting For The Rapture, To Be Where There's Life, Boy With The Blues and I'm Outta Time I kinda spared from the overkill and am getting into them all majorly now that the big-uns are outta the way. Nature of Reality and Aint Got Nothin are solid tracks, they rock hard with no strings attached. Soldier On is the weakest but its not as bad as made out.

Only song I would disagree with on BHN is Magic Pie. DM has a couple of not so great songs(Up in the Sky and Digsy's Dinner) - and SOTSOG is full of mediocrity(including the worst Oasis song ever - Little James)

I took a break from listening to it this week. Listened to the Doves records (and their all fucking top) But I put it on and still the album is amazingly strong. Every song is great and non are skipable. I mean AGN has a great drums and i love that crazy part. I can't complain it was well worth the 3 year wait. Bring On the next.

Exactly 1 month now. And the album has grown on me further. It truly is a great album
And the more I think about Falling Down, the more I think that the lyrical content is beyond awesome.
This album is truly their best since WTSMG.

Waiting For The Rapture - This has been a grower on me, the more I listen the more I like it, but what's keeping me from loving it is its duration, it's WAY too short. It could've lasted an easy 2-3 more minutes. I agree themanwithnoname that this is not a fair analysis of the track, I think the fact oasis do the 3-4 and a half minute song so often makes WFTR all the more fresh to listen to. On first listen I though WFTR was a mess, but it is probably one of my favorites- and I think pivotal song for Noel, meaning it is one of those tracks that will inspire the direction the bands music in the future... like Go Let It Out or Importance of Being Idle has for example. The alternative version 2 is also a great example of how good the song is..!

Aint Got Nothin would be 3 times as good and I wouldn't be ashamed to play it to my mates if it didn't have that shit lyric "here's a sawng, sing alawng".

i think this is probably the best album since Be Here Now. not the best not the worst. just average and in the middle. having heard the bonus tracks i have come to the conclusion that the spark seems to have gone. all very boring. only bag it up, TSOTL and falling down are any good

I still feel like the guitar solo in the Turning should have been longer!!! It's like having a spoon of delicious ice cream and when you want more you're told that it's all there was I really like the album though I just can't get into TBWTL NOR and SO are average. Apart from that it's goooooooooooooood

One month on - I think it's a great record. I think it show that Oasis has evolved as a band & as individuals. I have no problem if this is their current direction. Their evolution as a band is complete. I have no problem if their current direction will be a rockin band, with a ballad here and their, and some psychadelic stuff here or there. I think the sound that you hear off off DBTT and DOYS represents the new oasis sound.

I guess I'm one of the few people who think that DBTT is a better album than DOYS...
The first 3 tracks are fucking brilliant, and I think BIU is one of their best album openers. Shock just does my head in, sounds like a fucking polophonic ringtone, IOT is nice yeah but just the same Liamesque tune/style he's done before, I really like GOYHHL (I bass drum kicking in mid-way through is actually my favourite part of the album...), Falling Down is the best song on the CD (and one of Noel's best efforts full stop), then the rest of the album falls to bits.
Saying this, I still prefer DBTT, I just think the songs have a better shelf life. Even the crappest song on it (LLAB) is better than the last 4 tracks on DOYS...

The turning and Bag it up need to be mentioned as well - they were great on first listen but they are even better now. They would both make the next "stop the clocks/best of" album. They are interesting songs with lots of background sounds, you hear a different thing each time you listen to them. It'd be nice if they pulled their finger out and had the guts to give em a crack live!!

I'm still loving the album, not much has changed, still cant stand 'high horse lady' and normally forward past that and 'aint got nothing'.
Really enjoying the remixes much more and listn to those a lot. But still think Dig out your soul is a superb album.

I've taken a break from it for about 2 weeks now.
I don't wanna kill it before I go see 'em live on December 13th.
My least favorite songs on the album are High Horse Lady and Ain't Got Nothing. The song that has grown on me is Waiting for the Rapture.
The rest are totally awesome!

As much as i like TBWTL on the album, i wish the live version was on the album!!
And i agree the guitar part in The Turning should have been a tad longer, still a mega song though...

Yup, me again.
After 1.5 months now, my opinion is cemented. For all Oasis albums for that matter.
At one point I had HC ranked higher than SOTSOG At one point I couldn't separate BHN and DBTT At one point, furthermore, I couldn't separate BHN, DBTT, and DOYS
But I feel confident in this ranking now:
1.) DM: 5/5 2.) WTSMG: 5/5 3.) DOYS: 4.5/5 4.) DBTT: 4/5 5.) BHN: 4/5 6.) SOTSOG: 3.5/5 7.) HC: 3/5
I just feel the first 8 tracks (bar High Horse) are Oasis at their best.
When you let the album flow and see the track listing: Bag It Up, The Turning, Waiting for the Rapture, The Shock of the Lightning, I'm Outta Time....Falling Down, To Be Where There's Life
It's just amazing.
And again, all it's missing is a one or two track changes.....GOYHHL, AGN, TNOR, SO aren't bad filler, but if you switch 2 of those songs, say with from a list of STC, RM, WPTWOTWOMS, etc you're looking at a 5/5 star album, joining the elite DM and WTSMG.....I would still rank it 3rd, mind, as DM is untouchable, but nevertheless
I'm really digging this album. Oasis has done me proud. Now if only they put Live Forever back in the set list in time for my first Oasis gig next month....

The album is still going strong for me. Obviously it isn't played in full as often as it was in the early days and some tunes, namely High Horse have withered up and died completely, but for an album I've had for two months its still doing pretty well considering the rate I tear through music.
I think a good way to show how the songs themselves are doing is to list each songs playcount on your music player. Some points to consider: *Falling Down was out a good month before the other songs. *I deleted the leaked version and replaced every song except for Falling Down the day the album came out for better quality. *I don't ALWAYS finish songs right down to the last second - Media player registers a play once the next song has begun. *WFTR and AGN are pretty short.
1. Falling Down - 75 2. The Shock of the Lightning - 39 3. Waiting For The Rapture - 28 4. The Turning - 26 5. I'm Outta Time - 24 6. Bag It Up - 18 (can't explain this - like it more than IOT and WFTR) 7. tie - AGN / TBWTL / TNOR - 16 8. tie - HHL / SO - 14
There you go, thats how thee album stands for me as of today.

To tell you the truth I have barely listened to it at all the past few weeks. After being on a high after its release I have come to the conclusion that it's not that great.

I still really like DOYS. I love the first 5 out of 7 songs. I like the crunchy guitars of Waiting for the Rapture, but it doesn't get me going. That song is missing something. It doesn't really go any where. High Horse does not belong sandwiched in between two really great songs. It needs to be placed somewhere else on the album. The last part of the record ain't that bad. Where there's life is great. Really dig that song. I think it's what "Who Feels Love" wanted to be. Nature of Reality and Ain't Got Nothing On Me - they're better than average, very rocking. Provides some edge/swagger that has been missing on most of the records this decade. Soldier On - its just alright.
I think I've become indifferent to the album. I think this is good judge, a classmate of mine asked me how is the new album? I told her, they wrote three of the best songs ever (IOT, TT, FD), there's a few really kick ass tunes (BIU, TBWTL, TSOTL, AGN), and there's some alright stuff (NOR, GOYHHL, SO).
This album doesn't reinvent the wheel. But it's still a fine album. I think, this record is a true album. It's not songs that were thrown together like previous records. DOYS is an album, a true collection of songs that fit together. It has a great, hypnotic flow to it. It's like once I press play on Bag It Up, i feel like 10 minutes Soldier On is closing out.
