Its now about one month on since we first heard DOYS tracks whats your opinion on it now? have any new tracks grown on you or have you got bored of any songs?
I think its now my favourite oasis album. I originally said that up until (and including) falling down was perfect. I can now expand that and include TBWTL thats one of the songs that has really grown on me.
When i first got the album i skipped shock of the lightning and falling down purely because they weren't the new songs anymore, but now i'm back to playing them again they are both fantastic.
Originally i said that falling down was the best noel sung song since DLBIA, not anymore, theres nothing wrong with falling down its a great track - I think it will be the third single, but my favourite now is waiting for the rapture - I can't get the song outta my head its amazing.
Ain't got nothing (apart from its cheesy lyrics) is a good album track and sounds a good song live its just the dodgy lyrics that let it down.
The nature of reality has some of the best lyrics oasis have ever used "the nature of reality, is pure subjective fantasty. Space and time and here and now are only in your mind". Again its a great album track except liams vocals on the second verse let it down slightly.
Solider on is pointless and I still think it shouldn't have made the album, esp when you think they've got boy with the blues, record machine and stop the clocks lying around. Even the 30 second clips on youtube of "show me your love" and "if theres a god" sound 100x better. but even with this song (its only two verses and soldier on repeated a billion times can you call it a song?) at the end its still a fantastic album
The turning and Bag it up need to be mentioned as well - they were great on first listen but they are even better now. They would both make the next "stop the clocks/best of" album. They are interesting songs with lots of background sounds, you hear a different thing each time you listen to them.
Love the album disappointed the single didn't get to number one in the UK but nor did live forever or wonderwall and the masterplan didn't even make an album so its not the end of the world

I have to say that I'm Outta Time has definitely grown on me, as well as Soldier On. TBWTL is also definitely up there with songs that I initially didn't like but now really do. Of course Falling Down is up there. One song that just doesnt seem to get played is Rapture. Great song, I just don't seem to play it.
Just a fuckin great album.

First seven songs still good. Last four songs still shit (apart from To Be Where There's Life).
I've replaced the album version of Waiting For The Rapture with the one off the bonus disc, put TBWTL after Falling Down, then followed it with Boy With The Blues and Record Machine. Sounds great, just a shame they didn't release it like that.

Apart from the instants (ie: Bag it Up, The Turning, Waiting for the rapture et all) Everything has grown on me, except High Horse and Nature of Reality. Classic album

Soldier On has grown alot on me since my first listen. I wasn't very keen about Waiting For The Rapture at first but when I heard it live in Birmingham it got stuck ever since and I really love it now, looking forward to hear it live again in three weeks in Copenhagen. Ain't Got Nothin' is still boooring, it just doesnt do it for me live either and should've been left off the album. Boy With The Blues, I Believe In All or Stop The Clocks would have been much better choices tbh. Or the two Noel penned songs with the choir that got scrapped are sure to be better than Ain't Got Nothin' aswell.

I exchanged Aint Got Nothing with BWTB and added WFTR (#2) and The Turning (#4) and have more or less had it on repeat since it leaked. I love it.

I think High Horse Lady is actually pretty fantastic! When I first heard it, I was a bit shocked: it's got all the elements I usually hate in a song. It's bluesy, it's got only one note basically, it's repetitive... But somehow Noel pulls it off brilliantly and makes it a great tune! Now it's one of my favourite songs on this fantastic album.

get off your high horse lady is bside material. as good as it is there is always a difference between oasis' songs and bsides.. its not always decided by quality but more the approach and tempo.. as well it leaves a void where a more anthemic or rock song should have been applied.

Get Off Your High Horse Lady, Aint Got Nothing (which I do enjoy actually), and Nature of Reality seem like bside material to me. GOYHHL and AGN feel a bit unfinished, but decent enough where they could be released as bsides with no complaints. And NoR just isnt as good as the other tracks in my opinion. Rest of the album is solid however. I dont think many people would have complained about GOYHHL, AGN, and/or NoR being left off the DOYS if they had been bsides. However, people still seem to be upset about STC, TBWTB, and a few other tracks being left off the album. Doubt anyone would complain if they had been on the album.

Solid from start to finish for me.
"Bag It Up" wasn't instant for me but now I can say I really like it. Don't need to say anything about "The Turning" it's just fucking mental!
"Waiting For The Rapture" also wasn't instant but in the last week or so it's probably my most played song. Wembley version blew me away.
"TSOTL" and "IOT" are ace and have been from day 1.
"High Horse" is genius IMO just a brilliant hypnotic song and "Falling Down" is probably my fovorite on the album now.
I always liked "TBWTL" and "AGN" is filler but not as bad as people make it out to be. It's better than "The Meaning Of Soul" anyway.
"TNOR" is also good. One of the weakest tracks but I never feel the need to skip it and the guitar solo is awesome!
"Soldier On" loved this since the 40 second clips. I think theres something special about this song. I doubt Liam wrote this to be honest. I'd say he's just claiming it. On the DVD I think he says "I reckon I wrote this". The "groove" and bass on it gives me goosebumps. I just can't figure out why people don't get it.

Soldier on is fantastic, lyrics are great and love the effects at the end, but I do feel it kinda drags on at some point. Anyways, great way to end the album.

After a month, I can't say I like the album any more or less. Bag It Up - I thought it was pretty cool from the first couple of listens, but eventually found it to be quite repititive. It just sort of keeps on this steady pace that never really builds up to anything, which can honestly be said about a lot of the tracks on the album. I still like it, I'll just never love it. The Turning - One of the few tracks that has held up. I loved it instantly after the first listen and I still think it's a top tune. It should definitely be a single, although that probably won't happen - that being said, I believe it's the sleeper hit of the album. Waiting For The Rapture - This has been a grower on me, the more I listen the more I like it, but what's keeping me from loving it is its duration, it's WAY too short. It could've lasted an easy 2-3 more minutes. The Shock Of The Lightning - There's so much I can say about this track - first off, I love it. It's easily my favorite off the album. It really sounds like the old Oasis, which brings me to me almost hating it for misleading the album. It was the first track off the album I had heard, and it gave me the impression that "okay, the rest of the album should be amazing if this song sounds like this, like the old Oasis...." but no. I'm Outta Time - I think I'm one of the few who think this isn't all that great, it's good but it's Liam, so instantly you got lyrics that you know don't really mean anything besides what Liam thinks or feels about only God knows what, and a tune that we've all heard before altered just the slightest bit. The thing is, people give Liam too much credit, the only reason he's able to spit out songs left to right is that most of them, if not all of them, are rip-offs of something else. I'll never really care for this tune that much, and that's just me. "(Get Off Your) High Horse Lady" - So let me go back to 'repititive'. Now, Bag It Up isn't quite as repititive compared to this. This is nothing more than B-side material, to uncover the undeniable truth. I've always liked Noel's vocals in it though, but it just goes on and on, where at one point, it tries to get heavy but quickly goes back to where it continued. It's a filler, end of story. "Falling Down" - This is probably my third favorite off the album. But it almost sounds dated now, and I know that sounds crazy but it's true, it's quickly aged over a month's time. It has great vocals by Noel, something we've never really heard him do before, but it's so far out there that it seems a bit out of place on the album. "To Be Where There's Life" - It's definitely the 'oddball' of the album, and Gem's lyrics never fail to keep you guessing - "TV just closed down..." Is it just me or does this sound like a tune you'd hear at a strip club, I've never been to one but it just sounds like it would belong at a place like that. Again, it has that reptitive nature to it, like some others, but it probably has one of the best vocals on the album - Liam and Noel really harmonize good on it. "Ain't Got Nothin' - I almost skip this everytime, like 8 out of 10 listens I skip this mess. I just find it weird that the band went - "How about 'Record Machine'?... No. What about 'Stop the Clocks'... No, too old. There's 'Ain't Got Nothin''... Yeah, man that's brilliant" The logic of that decision still doesn't register with me. "The Nature of Reality" - Andy really outdid himself on DBTT that his return on DOYS is just downright disappointing. This tune isn't horrible - it's pretty cool for the most part, but we all know he has the potential of making tunes that are just as good as Noel's. "Soldier On" - Reptitive as shit, and a very poor excuse for a song. I love how the band made it clear how it was a leftover from their last demo session - like we couldn't get anymore disappointed. It's probably the worst closer for an Oasis album, besides HCs 'Better Man' (worst Oasis song, period.) So overall, I still think DOYS is a very average, but good album with its highs and lows. The Great = The Turning, The Shock of the Lightning, & Falling Down The Good = Bag It Up, Waiting for the Rapture, & To Be Where There's Life The Average = I'm Outta Time, (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady, & The Nature of Reality The Poor(Suck) = Ain't Got Nothin' & Soldier On

The Turning is incredibly layered - it's the most dynamic song on the album
Everytime I'm listening to an album, I 'can't wait' to hear this song or that song. Just like DM and BHN for me, I look forward to hearing most of the songs on DOYS.
I can listen to those albums all day long - same with this one.
I originally thought it was one of my top 3 Oasis albums of all time, and after a month, I think it could be close to DM...

That's probably, no it is, the single most ignorant thing I've ever heard. Yeah, that really is a dumb thing to say. I'm pretty sure the band were trying to make a good album with 11 strong tracks. Three of them are completely shit and have no place on an Oasis album. That makes them bad. And repetitive is not a good thing if it's boring as hell as with Soldier On. I still can't believe they included that actually. It's such a depressing, uninspiring end to the album. It's like saying, 'We'll just soldier on and keep churning out crap filler like this', which undermines some of the brilliant material that has gone before. I really would love to know what they were thinking on that one. Just because The Coral tell you it's a good song doesn't mean it is. I cannot comprehend how Noel thought AGN, NOR and SO were worthy of a place on the album when there was stuff like Boy With The Blues and Record Machine waiting in the wings. I heard that they were going to record Record Machine but Liam was away getting married so they scrapped it. That's just plain stupid. They should have waited, even delay the album by a couple of weeks FFS. It makes me so angry!!!

SO is NOT shit. lyrics aren't good but still better than AGN's, the last minute or so is GENIUS. it's got a lot of layers with different stuff going on, you just have to listen carefully. the piano bit at the end sounds like something from Pink Floyd's Animals, the melodica or whatever it is sounds fucking great. GOOD SONG with a positive message that comes across even though it has some poor lyrics (not as bad as some people claim), GREAT production, GREAT vocals, GREAT groove... fitting end to a class album. I listened to it today again and I still can't find a weak song. every single track is at least decent and most sound even better on context.
I don't think I'll grow tired of this album really.

Even NOR, which I consider to be weaker than every other song on the album, is the best 'worst' song of all of their albums so far. AND IT ISN'T EVEN CLOSE!
10 years from now when the critics/experts rank the best Oasis albums, DOYS will rank in their top 3, no matter what their preferences are. This is the best Oasis album of the new millenium.
