I can't believe no ones done this already!
1.) Lord Don't Slow Me Down, 7.5/10:
We've all heard this a long time ago, so I'll try to keep it brief. I was going to give it an "8" but felt that was too generous, so settled with a "7.5" We got it in 2006, and you can tell - it's very DBTT-ish (although it wouldn't really fit the flow if it was on the album). Not a bad song by any means. I like the lyrics and vibe. A bit too reptitive, and that's the reason I won't bump it to an 8/10. The drumming solo is nice, mind you. I like how it's very unique, but wouldn't want an entire album sounding like that - too dull. A nice one-off downloadable single, nothing more.
2.) The Turning (The Jagz Kooner Remix), 9.5/10
This song just can't do any wrong! I *almost* like it more than the album version, but why I don't - and why it's a 9.5 and not a 10 - is because of the guitar solo part - the remix destroy that part, while it's a real special moment on the album. Other than that, though, it's amazing - doesn't even sound like a remix! Sound more like how it would if it was on BHN - the monumental wall of sound. But because of the small nuances, I prefer the album version ever so slightly. I do like the outro more on the remix though.
3.) The Boy With the Blues, 8.5/10:
I know most on here are disappointed with this one, but I love it. And while I don't want to put words in your mouth, I think it's mainly because you all hyped this song - kinda like with STC. And while I was guilty of hyping STC, too, I didn't really pay attention to TBWTB so I wasn't eagerly expecting it. I just love the lyrics - "You let me see, the man I'm gonna be" and "You take a vow, never to back down", while nothing deep or profound, just makes me feel so damn good - which I think it's a testament to how Liam sings and delivers those 2 lines. The guitar solo is incredible too, like seriously. However, the "Come altogether" outro, while catchy, needs to be 30 seconds shorter.
It's up there with IOT and SB for me, and while IOT just edges it, TBWTB is a more complete song. Should have been the closer instead of Soldier On - would have helped the second half of the album enormously
4.) Falling Down (Chemical Brothers Remix), 7.5/10:
Heard this one awhile ago, too. I prefer the album version though. There are elements I really like in this remix that I wished they kept, though - the strong/heavy electric guitars, and the piano solo segment mainly. I don't listen to it often though, because the techno part just before the piano solo is migraine inducing! Plus, the album version has the chorus which is epic and lyrically superb!
5.) The Shock of the Lightning (The Jagz Koon Remix), 8/10:
Just like The Turning, this song can't really do no wrong. However, unlike with The Turning, the Jagz Koon Remix detracts from the song. I love the remix sound - again, sounds more like what it would if it was on BHN more than an actual remix - but Liam's vocals are buried too deep, it's more powerful in the album version. Although, for parties, I think I prefer this version - we'll see.
6.) I Believe In All, 9/10:
Should have been on the album. Did Liam really write this? If so, it should have replaced AGN! It would have fit the album perfectly. "And I will catch you if you fall, that's what I'm going to do" is catchy and Liams voice is spot on! The guitar solo is pretty funky too. Very similar in style to Pass Me Down the Wine, but even better.
7.) To Be Where There's Life (Fearless Production), 8/10
The intro sounds a bit cheesy, but as you get into the song you get used to it. Don't know which version I like better - album version is unique, but I do like the full sound of this version. Plus, has a nice jam session at the end. It seems like they're using this style live considering they've added guitars, which makes it better imo (the live version, at least). Again, it's been BHN-ized lol.
8.) The Turning (Alt Version), 9.5/10:
Seriously, this song, no matter what version, is monumental. This version shows Noel would be VERY successful if he went solo, but it also show that Liam's role is vital - his voice fits this song better. But good job Noel. Furthermore, good job in picking the right version this time round, Liam's one is better, but this is damn good too.
9.) Waiting for the Rapture, 10/10:
HOLY SHIT! Best track on the bonus disk. I know they're completely different styled songs, but this alternative version would be the first "anthem" to properly rival DLBIA. Noel's singing is beyond amazing. I prefer the album version because we have so many Noel sung anthems, it's nice to have the guitars back. But for the sake of live performances, I'd rather him sing it this way. I dislike the stripped back acoustic version of DLBIA (compared to the proper full band one), but this alt version of WFTR is stunning. I'm speechless. ----------
Sure, we didn't get much new material with this bonus CD, but we did get some cracking tracks.
Oasis are a band that can sing one song several different ways (Noel sung, Liam sung, acoustic, full band, etc) and they all sound equally epic. No complaints here.

I was just thinking yesterday that I still hadnt seen a review of the bonus disc.
Pretty much agree with most of the above except IBIA is never a 9, maybe 7, I'd push LDSMD up to an 8, and think TSOTL and TBWTL remixes are too drawn out at the end. Good review though.

I agree, IBIA should have been on the album instead of AGN...

everything on that album is an 8+ except for the jagz kooner remixes. they rip out the souls from the originals and add terrible electro beats.
love the chemical brothers remix of falling down.. i just dont get why people think the electronic bit sucks .

The WFTR alternative version is amazing, no idea what persuaded Noel to turn it into the album version (which is still brilliant by the way).
I really like the TSOTL remix too. The album version probably edges it but I definitely prefer the last minute in the remix, the album version is a bit too repetitive with the chorus coming in again after the drum solo.
Boy With The Blues really should have been on the album. The lyrics are good, especially when you consider it's coming from Liam. The chorus could have done with a bit more work though.

I hate remixes. So Im not gonna take the time to talk about them. Waiting for the Rapture (Alt version #2) is mindblowing! I love the solo, I love the accoustic, Noels voice is solid! It could have been on DBTT, and had it been on DBTT it would have been the best song on it, atleast up there with TIOBI. Its better than the album version. BWTB isnt great. I Believe In All is good, but still just average, nothing to write home about.

In BWTB, does anyone think Liam is doing an outside looking in appraisal of himself? I was listening to it in the car today and couldn't help but think that Liam is referencing the insecurities he feels. I know most short change his depth but this song struck me and I can't fathom why it didn't make the album. Hopefully we hear it at Electric proms.

Line like 'You let me see the man I'm going to be' (because he's his older brother) and 'We come all together for you' (ie the band come together to be Oasis but Noel's the driving force) and 'Remember to smile' (because Liam always accuses Noel of being a grumpy bastard!). Just what I got from it, anyway.
