I wasn't caught up in Oasis hype yet when HC was released - while I declared Oasis my fav band by then - I was still too young at the time to truly get them (15 years old in 2002, but still only 14 when HC was released). Plus, internet was still slow back then, and less of a chance to communicate massly via forums as such.
From what I've read and gathered over the years, it appears the people initially loved HC - believing the hype, and hyping each song themselves, only to realize how crap and disappointing it was a few months later.
I was disappointed with HC from the begining anyway, again - due to not being influenced by the hype.
However, DOYS will NOT follow this trend. Robohump did suggest something smart - he mentioned about new material euphoria in that we love it cos it's new, but once the freshness wares off, we'll see how poor it is. That concept can be true at times, but not always, and def not with DOYS.
Firstly, and most significantly, we've now had this album for a good 3 weeks or so (thanks to the leak), and played it hundreds of times in any given day, let along over the past 21. So while the album is still technically new, any "new material euphoria" would have worn off by now, surely.
Secondly, ALL the songs on DOYS are better than the filler on HC: TNOR, SO, AGN, GOYHHL are ALL better than HIABP, FON, AQP, and BM. No competition.
Thirdly, there are more good songs on DOYS than HC. HC has arguably only 3 amazing tunes on it - LBL, SB, SCYHO - arguable 4 if you consider THT. While DOYS has 6 incredible songs - BIU, TT, WFTR, TSOTL, IOT, and FD (which are all fall inbetween 8/10 if you're being harsh and 10/10 if you're being biased - although TT at the very least does deserve a 10/10) ---
Heathen Chemistry suffered because it was trying to be another WTSMG - forced anthem tunes. And while I think Noel can now writer another proper WTSMG now in 2008, he wasn't able to in 2002 - mainly due to lack of passion and inspiration.
Also, though, Noel FORCED those songs in 2002 - LBL is an attempt at being another DLBIA - and while I LOVE LBL, it's no where near as good as DLBIA. If you force your sound, it will always fail (see Coldplay's latest example) and you end up with drivel like HIABP, FON, and BM.
DOYS is NOT forced. Not one bit. Every song flows, every song has a place - even GOYHHL which sets up FD perfectly. Nothing is contrived about DOYS.
Sure, over the years you may grow to hate some songs - I originally liked ABWR from DBTT, but now can't fucking stand it. Or, you might grow to love songs - I was indifferent about POTQ - but now it's one of my Oasis favorites. All that is natural.
But, as for the opinion of the album as a whole, it won't decrease rapidly like it did with HC.
It's hard for critics, and even some fans to truly admit it, but Oasis are indeed well and truly back now. And THAT is the trend that I want to see continue with their next album.

I don't no WHAT you're talking about. You should refer to my post in the thread on HC. I have a great answer there. Reply to that instead of just starting this useless thing

HC was the album that got me back into oasis, I was only 10 when BHN came out but I can remeber my dad playing DM when it first came out and I was instanly hooked. I sort of forgot about oasis for a few years, the one day my dad played HC in the car before a baseball game and I remembered how great they were. As of right now I dont really listen to HC, but it will always be that album that turned me into an oasis fanatic. DOYS is my favorite oasis album ever, if the album was only the first 7 songs it would still be my favorite.

Also I dont get the comparisons between LBL and DLBIA, I never understood that, the songs are completetly different, LBL has a pink floyd vibe, and DLBIA has a john lennon vibe, but I will say as a little kid DLBIA was my favorite tune, and when I was about 14-16 LBL was the song that turned me into the fan I am today, while I dont listen to LBL anymore that much, it will always have a special place in me heart
