I didn't jump on the band-wagon pre-DOYS claiming that "DBTT is worse than originally thought all those 3 years ago" However, after listening to DOYS, DBTT is indeed very bland.
I still love DBTT - POTQ, TIOBI are 2 amazing tunes. Lyla is a fun live stomper. LLAB is a lovely tune, too.
I want to stress that I don't hate DBTT. I still love it, still think its a GREAT album. Just that DOYS is better and makes DBTT sound worse because of it.
But, my god, the production and energy with DOYS just kicks the shit out of DBTT.
I'm, at times, still hesitant to say DOYS is better than BHN, but there's no doubt in my mind DOYS is a step in the right direction, again.

DOYS is an exciting album pretty much start to finish. While Im a fan of DBTT, it gets a bit boring dont ya think? Its got some class Oasis tunes on it, but I dont know, It lacks the anthems, It lacks the energy, Not enough bass in it, Doesnt have many stand out tracks
DOYS brings out the bass very nicely, and the drums are sweet. The production on DOYS is great aswell. Its got alot of energy and its got a great ballad on it (Im Outta Time). Though the album does sort of tail off at the end. I think Soldier On was the right pick to close the album (would have preferred Record Machine) but seeing that its still not ready, Soldier On is a better closer than Boy With The Blues. "Soldier On", its got fitting lyrics to end an album.....Soldier On....Soldier On.....Soldier On.....etc, Like moove along.
All in All.......DOYS> DBTT

DOYS is worse than DBTT for a few reasons.
Firstly, DBTT is less overproduced. The "wall of sound" that everyone is talking about is a signal that it's just not working out in the studio. Look at "Falling Down". There's a rawness in DOYS that I can't stand. TNOR is about 25 or 30 per cent feedback and cymbols. WTF? I don't need to listen to that much overproduction, especially for such a terrible song.
Secondly, DBTT is consistently good from start to finish. There are no songs that are SO weak that you just have to skip. That is really not the case with DOYS. I feel the need to get past High Horse and TNOR more often that not. AND I NEVER SKIP TRACKS, particularly with OASIS.
Alternatively, DBTT is "less exciting". There are less rockers and it's certainly not groove-based. DBTT is an album about melody and harmony and is just brilliant. Your charge that DBTT is boring is an overstatement, however. I mean, I will certainly agree that it lacks those powerful rockers, but it's an album about soul and just isn't a balls-out rock album.
At any rate, DOYS is certainly more powerful, but it comes up short in terms of having memorable songs. As I've said 18 times, just wait a few months, or at worst until the next album

the Over-production on DOYS is obvious and deliberate, but then there are tracks on there which arent over-produced ie. Bag it up, The turning etc
I agree with Oasis39 that DBTT can get a bit bland, i love certain songs - even Andy Bells opener kicks ass.
But overall DBTT i feel was trying to be something but never was and never got you excited
DOYS is exciting, i love the lyrics and when Noel writes quick eg. Supersonic etc and now with Bag It Up, he uses words which may be a bit of nonsense "i got my hee bee jeebee's" but the songs are great rock'n'roll.............man
I'm one to say that sometimes Noel has been taking too long over songs, maybe contemplating them too much, but when he doesnt think about them too much then we get songs like Supersonic abd more early stuff......to now with the new album
All in All..............DOYS is indeed a return to form, but not just current form, the original form he had back in the day with a fresh sound and a fresh approach

The last three songs on DOYS kill the album momentum. I love the album up to TBWL but lose interest after that. Now that I have had a couple of weeks to absorb the album I realize how week the last three are. As an album, I think that DBTT beats out DOYS. Most will say that there are some weak tracks on DBTT but never in a sequence that makes you want to stop listening. I like the sound of DOYS but because of the tracklisting I would say that DBTT is superior as a body of work.

It definitley does put DBTT in it's place! Im not a big fan of DBTT, there isnt anything wrong with it but my problem is that none of the songs stand out. The only songs I like are Mucky fingers, let there be love and A bell will ring. I dont really like TIOBI but i'll give it some credit because I think the lyrics are quite witty. I've never liked listening to Lyla but It is great Live. For me I find that all the songs are pretty mediocre. They are ok as stand alone songs, but as a whole album I find it difficult to listen to. However DBTT deserves some credit because it was a new sound for Oasis, on the previous 2 albums it was like they were unsure of where they were going so they would try something new but they never quite pulled it off and as a back up policy they would do typical Oasis songs with big chorus'.
DOYS has an energy, rawness and wholeness which has been missing since BHN.

It's not even that the songs don't stand out. It's that it's not a consistently good album. Great melodies, but a bit flimsy.

I think DBTT is a good modern retro rock album by a talented band.
But DOYS is a fantastic, exciting, totally-on-another-level Oasis album!!
What I mean is that DBTT is a good album but it's not the best the genius of Oasis can do. DOYS meanwhile is an album only Oasis could ever have made! Brilliant!

DBTT flows better than DOYS given that Get off your high horse lady slows the record down a lot.
and does no one appreciate tunes like turn up the sun, the importance of being idle, mucky fingers, part of the queue, etc. ? great tunes if you ask me

DBTT didn't really flow, it was only a collection of good songs. On the other hand, DOYS flows much better, and it goes somewhere. GOYHHL Kinda breaks up the feel IMO though

Yeah they're both mega albums but despite DBTT having good songs DOYS is so much more...if there is such a term "classic" Oasis with a new vibe. To me I see it how Noel does, it's a great album with great tunes yeah, but it's a songy album, whereas DOYS is just back to the straight and simple guitar pelting album we've all loved from the past. They're all good
