I've been youtubing the recent gigs, and holy shit - Liam has made vast improvements over the last couple years
From the Wembley Gig
Slide Away:
I'm Outta Time:
He's sounding mega. Much much much better than the DBTT tour. Have it!
Especially Slide Away - gives me chills just watching that. Welcome back, Liam!

Im Outta Time at Wembley wasnt good at all I concur. Terrible stuff. And I wonder why Noel didn't do any backing vocals on it? Even the transition between the choruses?

Noel figures Liam's a big boy, he should be able to sing his OWN songs!

Noel figures Liam's a big boy, he should be able to sing his OWN songs! So that explains why he does backing vocals on both Aint Got Nothing and Songbird....

He's sounding alright....he's not terrible but there's still room for major improvement. He would sound better if he could hold a note longer than two seconds.

You should all check this video: I think if he's more than capable of singing, he only has to take care of himself. Edit: Looks like he could be miming in the video. I hope not

Can't really tell there. Can hear more of the crowd than Liam. In a way, thats great. I mean, sure, it's covering Liam's dodgy vocals, and makes it hard to get a true assessment. BUT, if everyone is singing it back - as most do at Oasis concerts - then it doesn't matter what Liam sounds like, as long as it's satisfactory. It's not like going to an Opera or whatever and you're soley focusing on the singer. Rather, the singer at rock gigs are less important as long as the crowd is fully engaged. (And hopefully my fellow yanks are just as passionate for when I see them in December) Although, this will make any future DVD release of the gigs worse - if Liams voice is indeed poor. Eitherway, I want Liam to sound ace no matter what - if not for us, at least for himself - cos you know, deep down below his hard man image, he does care deeply about what he does and his performances.

Well, Liam is a HELL of a lot better than he was during DBTT - true low point in the history of his voice.
Frankly, when you go to a concert you're all caught up in the gig and the moment. Liam's singing is great and his stage presence is mega. He's working it and he's havin it. He may be out of tune from time to time and not sustain notes, but he's rock 'n roll and it's good!

From the Wembley Gig I'm Outta Time: He's sounding mega. Much much much better than the DBTT tour. Have it! Are you kidding me? ?? on that iot he sounds worse than a cabaret singer, simply appaling. if he is going to butcher this beautiful song like this night after night, then i would rather them just drop it from the setlist alltogether then to have him maul it over and over again.

Liam don't hold the note, and this is probably the most boring thing, 'cos at Wembley he did it in every line. In the unfamous Glasto '04, his voice was down, but he actually sang every song really professionaly (which made the whole thing have some lack of passion, along with their attitude on stage). Liam reminds me of Bono during the Popmart tour (which I loved, btw): he struggled with voice, sometimes better than others. I think he went eventually into surgery and had to do quite a long job to give his voice more strenght.

Well i rekon surgery is the only option for liam if us fans want to carry on seeing them live for the next 5-10 years, its really is quite saddening that the best rock and roll voice of our generation has gone to pieces, i hope something gets done about it cos when i watch things like "there and then" (granted its in the 90's) i end up dancing around the room fuckin having it, i cant say the same for the wembley gig i just sat there cringing at certain points,
For me the band still has masses of longevity and shit loads of hits up their sleeves, im just worried they are gonna end up being a shit band live in most peoples minds, i would pay for the fuckin surgery

He's probably got nodules on his vocal cords. Imagine if he had them removed and he sounded amazing again.

He obviously has something fucked up with his voice.. nodules or whatever, there is SOMETHING fucked up. I heard Lydon change his singing style a few years after the Pistols because he was having throat pain and was told that if he kept singing like he did he would end up with nodules.. Surely Liam must have put 2 and 2 together and predicted that this was probably going to happen to him unless he did something about it?

For every I'm Outta Time, there's a To Be Where There's Life.
Maybe he's just singing it too aggressively.

You can see him get angry at himself just after "Out to sea.." on I'm outta Time so he obviously knows that he's not singing well. Thats encouraging at least

Liams voice has been alright so far... theres been some good spots... and some bad spots (Wembley IOT) But as a fan, Im not satisfied with his voice being "alright". For me to shell out $50+ to go and drive 3 hours to see them in concert... Im gonna expect the lead singer to sound pretty damn good. Which is why I prolly wont be seeing them this tour He's gotta make some big decisions right now regarding his voice. Im guessing quitting the cigs didnt work out for him... but he's gotta stop smoking. Nothing he does to try and improve his voice will do much good if he's smoking 1-2 packs a day. His voice will just continue to deteriorate, and we'll be looking back at the DBTT tour remarking how much better his voice was back then A vocal coach would do a world of good for him... but itll never happen. I guarentee the first thing the coach would tell him is to quit smoking, and the second thing would be to start warming his voice up before gigs. To be singing for 2 hours every night without warming your voice up is utterly retarded, especcially when his voice is in the kind of shape it is now. Good thing Noel still sounds pretty damn good. At this point in Oasis' career.... I think I'd rather see a Noel live solo performance than a full Oasis concert. Pains me to say that... but I dont want to go see a band where the lead singer has a worse voice than me, which in itself isnt that good
