www.gigwise.com/news/46619/Oasis-Drop-Live-Forever-From-UK-Tour-SetlistOasis' Noel Gallagher has revealed that the band have dropped 'Live Forever' from the setlist for their UK tour, which begins tonight in Liverpool. The guitarist said he understood there would be a “massive backlash” at the decision to drop the song, which was the third single from their debut album 'Definitely Maybe'. But it was necessary, he said, because “if we were to play every song the fans demanded we'd be like Bruce Springsteen playing over three and a half hours." Gallagher told the BBC that his decision had originally gone unnoticed by the rest of the group expect for new drummer Chris Sharrock. "He said, 'Are we not going to do 'Live Forever'?'. I was like, 'Do you know what? I hadn't even noticed',” Gallagher said. "I was like, 'Shall we do 'Live Forever'?' and everyone was like 'I don't know. Do you miss it? I don't miss it'. "One thing that annoys me about the live version of that is Liam refuses to sing the falsetto so it's quite ludicrous that we've got away with that for 10 years. Anyway all the fans can go and play it afterwards."

Fogive my ignorance, but what's the falsetto ? The bit that Noel always does live. On the album, and early live shows, Liam did this. Don't think he's been able to sing that high for years.

I still don't see why is Noel bothered that Liam dosen't do it, I mean if Noel has been doing it for so many years...why not this time?

The song always sounded great with noel's falsetto... and it's pretty obvious that Liam doesn't "refuse" to sing, he simply can't do it.... anyway, I understand that there are too many good songs to play, but if they gonna cut off a classic I would choose Cigs&Alcohol.... but I still don't get it why they're still playing MOS...

Well, since Liam's voice has....uh...'changed', I don't think he does the song justice anymore anyway...
You listen to the original recording, and even some of the more early shows (Live By The Sea) for example, and then listen to him do it the last 8 years or so, and it's kinda painful.
I'd rather just listen to Live Forever on the CD and not have it tarnished...

Liam joked on Zane Lowe that he told Noel that leaving Live Forever out would cause trouble and THAT was probably why Noel got pushed over on stage in Canada!

I don't mind.
We have enough versions of it from down through the years. I'm sure they'll play it during the tour at some stage.

To be honest, they didn't play it when I saw Noel and Gem live (2006) and I was a bit bothered... howver, when they didn't play it at the Toronto V-Fest this fall I didn't really miss Live Forever... however, I was assuming that it was dropped because of the whole Noel getting attacked incident

With the exception of Familiar to Millions I think the slow version of Live Forever sounds crap anyway. It was painful hearing it on the last two tours so it's no great loss.

noel seeking attention, Liam should make the setlist I remember reading an interview a while back of Noel saying he would put a more diverse set of songs on the set list but Liam cant sing those tunes anymore. So if Liam made the set list, Im not sure how different it would be from Noels. Noel wants to do some new stuff but its Liam who gives it the thumbs down

It shouldn't be in the set. Its not that great live since Liam doesn't sing it right anymore.
