Hey fellas
Was listening to radio 1 last night and Noel popped in to chat to Zane Lowe, some of the comments Noel made kind of worried me and had me excited at the same time.
He said that on this album that Gem and Andys songs are not the best that they have currently got and also that his songs are not the best either, going on to say that they used these songs to fit the sound of this album.
These are fair points, but it worried me that he is brave enough at this stage of their career to put out an album that is possibly sub-standard to what they could potentially put together just in order to capture a certain sound, and on the flipside made me excited and hopeful for an amazing future record from these hidden gems that are stashed away somewhere.
This post may sound like i dont like the new album, i do like it alot, im just thinking of what could have been, and also what there is to come
Thanks

In the Gonzo interview he said pretty much the same thing - that Dave Sardy had asked for tracks that sounded a particular way and had a specific feel to them.
I'm glad to hear Gem and Andy's songs aren't their best, if they were I'd chuck them out of the band.
As to the next album, well, it's three years away and a lot can happen in that time.
Be nice if they could put out some decent b-sides this time though.

Yeah it would be, i think their albums keep getting marginally better every time, and i still have hope and faith they can really pull something out of the bag on their next one, but maybe noel needs to listen to the fans and reviews and take up more of the old school dictatorship

Definitely.
I think he has been so determined to make Oasis Mk II a proper band rather than the Gallaghers + session musicians that he has relaxed his quality control a little too much.
The next album should be ten Noel Gallagher tracks - unless Liam, Andy or Gem come up with a stunning contribution rather than the filler they've served up this time round (with the honourable exception of IOT).

I can feel Noel is bubbling up to something big, i dont know when its gonna be i hope its the next album, and im kind of glad that alot of the reviews i have read are saying the same thing that alot of us are saying about the chief needing to take on more of the songwriting duties, maybe he will listen next time
If his tunes on DOYS are not his best currently, then fuck me are we in for a treat?
