I have been a long time fan but wasn't expecting much from doys.
How wrong I was. It's a masterpiece. I like every song and for me the last half is not a let down either.
Iot should be a worldwide hit.
I love this album. Oasis are back as best band in the world.

I have to agree with the original poster.....I was very happy with the album from the first listen, although parts grew over time. Well now I'm totally blown away, I have just heard an official copy for the first time on a decent sound system and all I can say is WOW AGN official as compared to the leak is like the step up from Demo to leak.....its massive!!! ;D This album is as near to 5/5 as you are likely to see

A real contender for album of the year. I think we can comfortably say that it's a better release than Viva La Viva by Coldplay.

I absolutely love it! I can't wait till tomorrow! It's the album that finally sits proudly on the shelf alongside the first two.
P.S. How can people not like Soldier On? It's a great tune - a real grower as well. The only tracks that go slightly dodgy are Ain't Got Nothin and The Nature of Reality. Apart from those two songs, the rest is fuckin mental!

It is a brilliant album. The last 3 Oasis albums have had wonderful individual songs but they've had some filler as well. This one has no filler, it's a complete masterpiece that demands the listener to enjoy it in its entirety.
The best guitar rock record of the year.

DOYS best record of the year in my book

I mean what I said.
I was thinking that it could be argued that it is their best album.
OK DM is peerless but it does have some annoying filler you have to skip through and MG is the same- Wonderall and DLBIA are its stand out tracks but it has Roll With It, She's Electric, Digsys Diner and some more which are highly skippable.
DOYS is quality from start to finish.
For me the second half works like Standing's similar trippy tracks never did. They give contrast to the album.
I can't stop playing it, I never thought an oasis album would be this good after the last four so so releases.

best 2007- 2008 album (for me) : DOYS!!

Of course MG is superb and it works as a whole album. I love it and DM. However MG isn't perfect and MG does have some skippable tracks (which still work I suppose)
What I am trying to say is DOYS stands along side (not under) DM and MG like no other of their studio albums have since.
For me I haven't been so excited by a CD in years. The last four oasis releases Iv'e known very quickly that they were OK that's all. I hardly ever play them. I play DOYS over and over, I can't get enough of it.
It is the in my opinion the best release in a long long time-not just from oasis but by anyone.
I am being objective too. I know instantly when I heard BHN that it wasn't working anymore and felt the same about every other oasis album since. They were missing that x factor which DOYS has in spades.
I also agree having the CD is far better than having it on myspace or downloading a poor quality rip.

I garee I have Viva La Vida and DOYS is far far better,
I like coldplay but VLV is Coldplays HC/SOTSOG/DBT You want it to be great but in your heart of heart you know its not great but very average.
What coldplay have going for them is that they have been nice during interviews, never slagged anyone off-well they ahve played it safe and boring but have made few enemies which oasis have by the score.

Wow, more and more people are agreeing with me! DM and WTS(MG) have filler, but when you play DOYS, you HAVE to listen to it entirely or it's like an unfinished album almost.

I for one never said SOTSOG, HC or DBTT were the greatest oasis albums ever.
For me they were competant enough but they didn't come close to DM or MG. And I thought that at the time. It was oh well, maybe next time and as each of them was released I was thinking next time will never come.
I was expecting the same from DOYS but I absolutely love it and that is a huge surprise. I thought they'd lost it.
Seriously it is one of my favourite oasis albums and albums of all time.

Work of art, Viva La Vida was a work of art and frankly this just takes the cake. I honestly can say that there was no real filler after getting a good quality version of it My $150 inc. postage was totally worth it for the deluxe box I just love listening to it, i can't tell which is better, headphones or speakers because they both sound farking amazing.

I agree - I am so enjoying the album and am playing it all the time.
Up there with the best they have done.
Last four albums were not as good so it's a relief they have finally delivered the goods again.
