I am casting a strong vote FOR.
I am curious to see where this ends up. It seems to me an overwhelming amount of fans love it for the most part. However, it shocks me the extent of how negative some so called harcore fans can be. Sure I understand that we wouldnt want an albums worth of agn's, or the lat 3 songs are not quite as brilliant as the first half but to slag the whole album and call them Beatles rip offs etc. If you are a hardcore Beatles fan and you love Oasis, you hardly walk into a room where one or the other is blaring and get confused about which is playing? There are a whole litany of bands who dont really have their own identifiable sound and really do sound like the Beatles ie Cotton Mather ' Kontiki', Guided by voices (just a couple off Bee thousand) and counless others. I like these bands but even look at Glasvegas who I also like and I could give countless examples of 50's bands they have ripped off note for note! And the whole lyrics suck thing I just dont get? Lyrics have never been about what Oasis are about? It's not like the lyrics were that brilliant on the first two? Have lyrics really mattered in RNRoll since the early days of Do wop?
It's fifteen years in and I think some peoples expectations are so high for Oasis as a result of the first two.How many bands last this long(seeDirty Pretty things and The Libs, La's, Roses, etc.)
I am quite happy to be getting songs like The Turning, Bag it up, wftr, tsotl, Falling Down and if you dont like agn on the album in this digital age just substitute Liams singing LDSMD or Eyeball tickler Demo or even BWTB. And if that doesnt make up for the last couple throw in STC and Record Machine.
As an American fan who has been there since the first note of DM and given that the music scene over here that has throughout the past decade been appalling( notable exceptions: Strokes 1st, Brmc 1st album, the new Vampire weekend, etc) I am quite pleased that Oasis are still around and appreciate the overall legacy as it may be awhile before we see a suitable replacement.

hey ,
I would replace Vampire Weekend in your notable exceptions list with Kings of Leon, if it has to be a Brooklyn Band I'd pick TV on the Radio
cheers
