So says Noel Gallagher www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/theticket/2008/1003/1222815469295.html"Lyrically though, I'm proud of Falling Down on this album. You mentioned earlier that you thought it was about a comedown from drugs. That song started when I was sitting in my back garden this time last year and there was this beautiful early autumn sunset. I was thinking about all that climate-change bollocks and came to the conclusion that man really is incapable of destroying all this. "But you wouldn't necessarily get that from the song. I don't do really do biography or 'issues'. I hate it when there's a song you really love and you think it's about a certain thing and then, years later, the songwriter says 'that song is about X or Y', and it's totally different to what you imagined." So HAHAHA Everyone, knew it all along. Let me glow-bask

lol nice call
I could never decide for myself whether it was a negative or positive song, I always just kinda figured it switched between positive and negative... which isnt exactly unheard of in songs

"I cried the rain that fills the ocean wide"
You would say those are tears of joy, of course.

"I cried the rain that fills the ocean wide" You would say those are tears of joy, of course. I said in essence Falling Down is a postive uplifting song and Noel has confirmed this so So unlucky Notorious ''I have no girlfriend'' L.4.E and Boy With The Blues But interesting idea there. He's crying rain though, not tears. Rain has nourishing qualities, brings about new growth etc and filling the oceans wide is just underlining how fucking mega and colossal the person who is doing this crying is. So awesome in fact that he doesn't need a god to ''waste my time''

It's still a negative song. There's nothing positive about it. You're twisting Noel's inspiration for the song, making it seem like he put a positive spin on the concept. Let it go.

"I tried to talk to God to no avail"... yeah, that's awesome, very uplifting too! and about the rain part I still can't believe that actually came through your mind....
