Like everyone else, I'm super excited about the new album and I've already got my tickets for the gig at Staples. But something has been bugging me the past month, and I was wondering if anyone else had this concern.
Aside from TSOTL and FD, I have not listened to the album, but I have listened to all the reviews and verdicts by fans and the media so far on DOYS.
With the over positive reviews, I feel like its a bit too good to be true, and I am going to be let down.
I wasn't a big Oasis fan when Heathen Chemistry came out, but wasn't everyone saying that Oasis took a different direction and they sound different and it was incredible? That whole hype about sounding different was applied to HC and possibly SOTSOG. I'm sure those two albums got the same type of hype by fans as DOYS is getting now.
And with people saying that DOYS is the bands return to form and the best thing since WTSMG, I feel like people got past the honeymoon period on the previous 3 albums and are now obsessed with this like its a flavor of the month.
My conclusion, the last 3 albums were praised and hyped before their release, but looking back, they lost a lot of their attractiveness and longetivity. I'm just wondering if DOYS is going to be same way, or will it really be an album we enjoy and regard in high respects in 5 years.

My friend it will go down as a classic album. Its got a certain flow 2 it. The production will standout for you and its not really about the groove. I would say its a heavy, trippy album with great lyrics and the songs don't overstay their welcome. Its a solid 9/10. U will not be disapointed.

In my opinion, these songs are exactly what I wanted from Oasis. They are new, refreshing, different. I really don't see any track that overshadows the rest, but all of them hold their weight and are great in their own way. I can't say that you will or won't be upset with this album, that's for you to decide on October 6th (or 7th!) but it's different from anything they have ever done before and no matter what your verdict, you have to respect the band for chaning it up, and actually doing something different.

It's Be Here Now again, don't worry if you don't like it the first listen. For the most part, I like it because it's an album I can actually play through all the way. There have always been some iffy tracks on every album they've released. I really wish that I had become in the fan in the early 90's when they first came out because now I have this whole "Well, British music is cooler" bias, so it was like I almost forced myself to like the band at first as I was raised on pop and the classical/jazz stuff I learnt at school.
It's definitely a more mainstream based album, except there's no filler like you tend to get nowadays. When you get it, listen to it all the way through, it's really hard to skip around because of all the fading that goes into the next song. It's like listening to a piece of music that has different movements, that is, the album is the piece, and the songs are the movements.

Mainstream You really think so TSOTL is very radio friendly IMO and IOT being a nice ballad can appeal to masses but the rest is pretty rock/edgy/different IMO!

DOYS is amazing, IMO its their best album since MG or BHN. It surely beats the last 3 albums though. It sorta........makes me wanna dance!

Havent decided yet whether or not I like it better than SOTSOG, but Id say I prolly do. As far as the first 3 albums go, they're not way out of this albums league, but theyre still better. Its kinda the album that I would have expected to follow SOTSOG. Its not SOTSOG part 2 by any means... but it just seems to me to be a progression from that kind of sound. If youre expecting it to be better than the first 3... youll be disappointed. If youre only expecting it to be better than the last 3, you should be satisfied

Dig Out Your Soul is a classic! I echo the others here. The music just flows. I am over the moon over this new material.

when you get it, just put it on. don't compare it to something you love because you'll be disappointed. just put it on and take it for what it is, because that's all it is and can be.

Odds are your first reaction is gonna be disappointed, but then put it on another couple times and you'll appreciate it more. I think it's so different it turns you off at first, but yea my advice is to give it a few listens before you make any judgements.

Some songs you will 'get' on the first listen, some may take multiple listens to appreciate how good they are, TBWTL springs to mind for me...

the first 5 songs are more instant and you'll like them
For me, it was the 2nd half of the album which - because it slows a little and more thought out - which takes getting used to
listening now on MYSPACE and the 2 nd is def growing - love GOYHHL and NOR
NEARLY goosebumps from IOT

Over here in the UK, SOTSOG and HC were slated when they came out. It wasn't until DBTT that the media started to give them back some credibility.
However, with DOYS, all the reviews have been positive, and The Times (which is the largest selling paper in the UK) has absolutely praised the album. Easily the most prasied upon album from Oasis in a long long while.

Fuck off getting worried and just enjoy it when it comes out. If you don't like it, you don't, if you do, you do.
