Look, here's my theory I think most people agree that (1) Boy With The Blues is not as good as it has been hyped and (2) that the chorus is outta place (e.g., I prefer this version - , respect to the guy who did the mix) Recently, the Sun wrote: "He (Noel) told the NME: “He’s really good. The thing about Liam is you haven’t heard the half of it. “ If he could even be bothered to finish some of the songs he started. “Honestly, they’re amazing. But he suffers the curse of the Gallaghers. It’s like: ‘F*****g hell, can’t finish it.’ “I’ve got demos of his at home with about 40 tunes which, if he could be bothered, would be amazing.” " www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/article1529954.eceIn my opinion, BWTB is exactly one of "these" songs In January 2006, NME reported: "Oasis have revealed plans to release an EP in the summer. The lead track is likely to be the Liam-penned ‘The Boy With The Blues’. “Liam’s got this tune that’s left over from the sessions called ’The Boy With The Blues’, which he got in a right fucking arse about and it could’ve been on the record,” Noel told NME.COM.” And I would like to – because we’ve got a month off in January, we’ve GOT ALL of January off- I’d like to go back into the studio to add a bit more to it.” He added: “I’d like to put it out as a one-off single, ‘cos if we spend January recording and mixing it, it could be out for the summer.” Noel described the track as “catchy as fuck” and “a bit like Spiritualized.” The guitarist went on to say: “ There’s not much of a chorus to speak of, which is why it didn’t go on the album. [Producer] Dave Sardy was like, ‘It needs a chorus,’ but it's got this change at the end where the words go: ‘Come all together/If we come all together/We’ll come all together for you’. However, Noel admitted he hadn’t spoken to Liam about going back into the studio. “I haven’t spoken to Liam about this. This’ll be the first he hears of it when he reads it now and he’ll be like, ‘What the fuck are you on about?’. I’d like to put it out as a one-off single, ‘cos if we spend January recording and mixing it, it could be out for the summer.”" www.nme.com/news/oasis/21861So, they were in need of a great chorus. And they didn't find it so they cancelled the release of the song and the EP: "Oasis have decided to pull the release of their forthcoming EP in the summer. Speaking to Russell Brand on 6 Music, Noel Gallagher revealed that the band have shelved songs slated to appear on the mini-album because they weren't up to scratch. He also said that Oasis are taking a break for the rest of 2006 after recently completing their world tour. Noel added: " We had a couple of tracks left over from the last record and in our own heads we thought they were good enough to be released as an EP. "We went back and listened to the tapes and we reckon we can get it better, so we're having the year off instead." As previously reported on NME.COM the lead track on the EP was expected to be the Liam-penned 'The Boy With The Blues'. But it's now unlikely to appear on any future Oasis release until at least 2008, when the band are due to make their return." www.nme.com/news/oasis/23073Eventually, they've made a new chorus but it still wasn't good enough for a record, but having decided not to leave this track at all, they've put it on DOYS bonus CD The result is ok, but not mind-blowing as it could've been (as compared to, say, I'm Outta Time) if only they could bother to finish the song properly Sad - even that Youtube mix is better, in my opinion (you may as well have a different one, that's just my theory based on analysis of the Gallaghers' statements)

This is an awesome post, great job. I prefer the Youtube mix myself, however I'd like it even more if they used the current 'chorus' as a bridge towards the end. Don't have to ditch it completely.
Edited to add: I'd be willing to bet I Believe In All is just a DBTT outtake as well.

I'd really like to know what makes people think BWTB was hyped? It was left off an album, ditched as a single, and last but not least even Noel admited it needed more work done. It has been mentioned - a lot - but never ever did anyone say it was the best thing since sliced bread.

Great post and that remix is better. Makes one wonder why they just didn't do that in the first place.

People who hadnt heard the song were going on and on about how BWTB should have made the album and how AGN shouldnt be on DOYS and BWTB should. Total retards

Pretty good job, but I like the "remember to shine bit"
I think you could of used that as the bridge. Other than that you did a good job!

Funny... I think most of Liam's songs sound unfinished and amateur... and I think the last two of his on DOYS or complete, horrid shit compared to the rest of the record...
I expected The Boy With The Blues to suck shit if throwaway songs like AGN & Soldier On are making Oasis records these days and TBWTB isn't... BUT IT'S FUCKING GOOD! I hate the remix actually.... I'm the first to say Liam needs to learn how to write a chorus (I'm Outta Time notwithstanding)... but the bit after the verse is soulful and well written. I think it's great how it is and a proper version should have been on this new record in place of either of his final two pieces of poop that hurt this new album. Noel perhaps could have written an unbelievable outtro (similar to the Record Machine chorus) and made it even better, but it's still great.
