www.nme.com/news/oasis/39908Ryan Adams compares new Oasis album to Radiohead oasis Singer says 'Dig Out Your Soul' is a revelation like 'Kid A' Sep 23, 2008 0 Comments Oasis news, reviews, video and tour dates Add Oasis to MyNME Ryan Adams has compared the feel of Oasis' new album to Radiohead's most experimental work. The singer, who supported Oasis when they kicked off their world tour in the US in August, says that 'Dig Out Your Soul' hit him the same way that the Oxford band's 2000 album 'Kid A' did. "The first time I heard 'Kid A' I went 'OK, I have no fucking idea what kind of music this is but it's moving me. It sounds like a revelation.' That's what the new Oasis stuff sounds like it sounds like," Adams told The Quietus.com. "They have entered into some strange uncanny spiritual crazy door and have just lost themselves completely to it and it is marvellous." Adams went on to praise frontman Liam Gallagher's songwriting on the new album – due out on October 6 – particularly after the criticism he received for his initial efforts on the 'Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants' album back in 2000. "He is so abstract I can't believe how far he's come..." declared Adams. " 'Oh you know you could have stopped at 'Little James' for me and I would have been forever ruined in a perfect way . . . because the idea that like you just sort of went like 'I'm going to try this [songwriting] and your brother was so inspired by that', it's so beautiful you know."

yeah, I think he meant "radiohead" in an Oasis knd of way...actual melody, vocals made by humans, and a lad-type song set.
You know, shit that's all too "everyman" for Radiohead (I do like them btw).

He's off his mash if he thinks Dig Out Your Soul is anywhere near as good as Kid A!
It's not *that much* of a step forwards from Don't Believe, it just has some more elaborate production.

I think he has a point, its based on rythme and melody and far less on the lyrics....
..plus the no guitar on TBWTL etc and Soldier on could easily have been recorded by Radiohead and put on Kid A (not that it sounds like them as such)
Its an Oasis style Kid A............I have to say its far easier on the ear ;D

He's off his mash if he thinks Dig Out Your Soul is anywhere near as good as Kid A! Tell me what makes Kid A a good album, songwriting? blah, they had written better songs and all their previous records,, innovation?, blah,,, nothing that New Order, Kraftverk, Joy Division didn't produce 20 years earlier, musicianship? blah,,, they didn't even play their instruments for the love of God..

Kid A is pretty poor if I'm honest....some good beat and melody....but too much bla......and Kid A the song makes me laugh out loud.....it sounds like Stephen Hawking having a fit on a keyboard (bloody awful) But thats not trendy so I will say I really get it man and its experiemental

There's not much point trying to convince a bunch of Oasis fans how great Radiohead is, is there? I'll save my breath, lol

Kid A isn't rock music. I think its shit. The bends is a great album.

Whether you hate Radiohead or not, DOYS is by far the closest they've ever come to sounding like them. Songs like The Turning and Soldier On just reek of Radiohead. And there's nothing wrong with that...Just cause you don't like them, doesn't mean Oasis can't sound like it. I'm sure alot more of us would like them if Liam sang instead of that miserable fuck Thom Yorke. Jonny Greenwood really is a hell of a musician...They do deserve some respect

DOYS is nowhere near as experimental - or indeed just "mental" - as Kid A. That said, I definitely enjoy listening to DOYS more, as a record. It's more fun - and fun is not really something Radiohead are into (and don't get me wrong, I love Radiohead).
In terms of awesome production, Kid A still has How To Disappear Completely. Only Falling Down really competes in that sense.

I love both bands, I love both albums. I did think of Kid A after listening DOYS for the first time. Everyone says how groundbreaking Kid A is, and to a certain extent it was kind of a shocker that a rock band would come with an album like that, but that's because they've never heard of Kraftwerk... they were doing similar stuff 30 years earlier
