I partly agree with you.....NOR especially gets stick but its brilliant and Soldier on is perfect to end on, so stoned and heavy and the repeating fade out and back is fantastic. However BIU and TT are not in anyway awful

Wow, well youre certainly the minority saying that the later half of the album is better.........The first half is tops if you ask me, but its good to know not everyone thinks the second half is bad

the begining is for basically people that are trying to hold on to the old sound, and its a weak attempt at that.. i like 4-11 minus aint got nothing on me. 6,7,8,10,11 are a nice grove.. 4,5 are def the singles and i enjoy them. not a fan of 1,2,3

The first 3 tunes are for people who are trying hold onto the old sound? I think you mean the first 3 tunes are for people who like rock music. Theres nothing on DM or WTSMG or any old oasis album that sounds like the first 3 tunes and the first 3 tunes are in no way ''poor attempts'' at the old rocking type tunes there a complelty new take on them from oasis point of view. The only comparison is that they are full on tunes. It ends theres. You don't have a clue.

1,2,4,5 are all fantastic/incredible awesome to me. 3,8 and 11 are all really good. 6,7,9,10 are pretty good, i'll get around to em more i'm sure

Agree with those who disagree with this thread!
After Falling Down the album properly tails off. Is absolutely BEGGING for another Noel song on the home straight.

After Falling Down the album properly tails off. Is absolutely BEGGING for another Noel song on the home straight. Yep. I hate it when Noel says shit like, "I have so many brilliant songs left over" and then allows andy/gem/liam songs that, while decent, are far from brilliant. (I'm excluding Gem's song this time around though, since I think it is pretty damn good) Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I always prefer Noel's tunes.

Maybe 'Ain't got nothin' is below par but, that apart, the second half of the album is great.

well i disagree , gem and andy are not doing it for me this time , their songs are out of noels league as liams too . i know noel wants to every member participate , and deal with the composition of the album , but all oasis songs should be written by noel if you ask me .

On "side two", Falling Down and To Be Where There's Life are very solid efforts. Last three are a bit aimless.

wow you have no taste. Start up a poll and ask what half of the album is better. Most people agree that the last half is weak not because the songs are bad but because the beginning is EMPIRE.

Most people agree that the last half is weak not because the songs are bad but because the beginning is EMPIRE. agreed. I love Falling Down & TBWTL. Solider On is under rated in my book. TNOR is getting better with each listen. The riff is awesome and the solo though its short it will probably became one of their most under rated solos. AGN is a solid track nothing amazing but it beats the hell outta MOS.

Oasis fans are very strange, the second half is brilliant, Soldier on is a fantastic ending and gets etched in your brain as you Soldier on through life!
Why we have to find fault in everything I will never know...yes Noel has really raised his songwriting game, but the other members have really delivered.....and the whole band work on these songs anyway, so its not like they are inferior, Noel will have had lots of input in Liams songs.

Im gonna agree to disagree also, the second half of the album lags a lot. AGNOM was probably put there to liven it up but it's not a strong enough song. Perhaps waiting for the rapture and AGNOM should have been the other way round? But then tracklisting was never there strong point SOTSOG anyone?

This opening salvo isn't a cover of the Geri Halliwell song or a "No Diggity"-esque chorus, but something to do with tea: the first two lines of this, Oasis' seventh album, contain a reference to pouring yourself a cup of lady grey, which all seems a little la-di-da for a band you'd imagine are more at home with a brew of PG that you could stand a spoon up in. Anyway, it's a solid start that'll do nothing to scare the Oasis faithful, sturdy blasts of chest-out noise, the bros G in duet on vocals, and ringing Noel Gallagher guitar lines that end in a suitably bombastic crescendo. So far, so expected.
like i said.. to keep old oasis fans happy.. but are stale and ruin the album.

I do not agree with ya. I think 'Bag It Up' is a great track! I also think GOYHHL (track #6) is a great one, and track #5 is awesome, too. And of course, Falling down and TSOTL are good.

I dont think all of them, Im Outta Time is classic and TBWTL is very good I disagreed with this thread not because the second part is rubbish cause is not... is very good (high points imo Falling Down and TBWTL), its just that the first part is EMPIRE ;D like rmillis said.
