Maybe the album would have worked out better like this:
Bag It Up The Shock Of The Lightning Waiting For The Rapture Ain't Got Nothin (Get Off Your High Horse Lady) I'm Outta Time To Be Where Theres Life The Turning The Nature Of Reality Falling Down Solider On
I love the album the way it is but i do agree that the last half of the album is a little weaker. This way round FD + TT would have been there to give it a little more life perhaps?

i wouldn't replace any songs but yeah slotting in something a bit faster or colossal or catchy would have really nailed it. I like NOR but i think they should have had one more track right before solider on. something like stop the clocks or record machine OR any one of those epic tunes noel has up his sleeve.
and has anyone noticed that although it does sound good, its weird to have most of noels tunes at the front and then taper off? it may have been more balanced if it was something like this:
Bag It Up Waiting For The Rapture The Shock of the Lightning I'm Outta Time To Be Where There's Life Ain't Got Nothin' (Get Off Your) High Horse Lady The Nature of Reality The Turning Falling Down Soldier On

i would re-record to be where theres life with guitars(this version is just silly), leave off the nature and aint got nothing, and do something more to soldier on(i love the melody there is, but it needs something more to be massive). I really do consider it foolish for oasis to release a record like this at this point in thier career. After DBBT they were once again respected, and we were all ready for a new true masterpiece, and after three years they leave us with ain got nothin, nature of reality, high horse lady, to be where there's life(poor recording) and soldier on. We know they've got loads and loads of great songs left(just think of how many unreleased noel songs we already know).. it's just stupid

A killer track at the end of the album that you *look forward to* while listening. Every great album needs a killer last or second-last song. Definitely Maybe had 'Slide Away'. Morning Glory had 'Champagen Supernova'. Sgt. Peppers had 'A Day In The Life'. The Queen Is Dead had 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out'. The Stone Roses had 'I Am The Resurrection'. Appetite For Destruction had 'Rocket Queen' And on and on and on. Almost all the true classics have a monster track that closes the album (or is the second last song before a slow closer like 'Soldier On'). That's what's missing from DOYS. After Falling Down, it's just 15 minutes of meh. A hard-rocking epic version of 'Record machine' would have done quite nicely as track 10. Damn shame. Ya, that's why i think the track listing could've been better. However it just goes to show how many lightyears noel is ahead of them, so maybe noel did that from a personal point of view

here's the best tracklisting I could come up with:
1. TSOTL 2. Bag It Up 3. The Turning 4. Waiting for the Rapture 5. To Be Where There's Life 6. Aint Got Nothing 7. Get Off Your High Horse Lady 8. I'm Outta Time 9. Nature of Reality 10. Falling Down 11. Soldier On
I love Bag It Up, but think it'd work better as track 2 than the opening track. TSOTL would be a perfect album opener imo... and Falling Down before Soldier On would have filled the quota of having one of the best tracks on the album be the last or 2nd to last track. Idk tho... whoever decided on the final tracklisting really dropped the ball... for a number of reasons
a. TSOTL-I'm Outta Time-Get Off Your High Horse Lady: completely ruins the flow of the album b. Not spacing out the Noel sung tracks well enough c. Putting Nature of Reality as the 2nd to last track. In my opinion, the 2nd last track is almost as important as the last track in "closing the album". Nature of Reality just doesnt do that at all. d. The last 4 tracks flow terribly e. Stacking the beginning and middle of the album with faster, high energy tracks... and then ending the album w/ To Be Where Theres Life, AGN, Nature of Reality, and Soldier On. Of those 4 songs, 3 of em are slow, spacey psychdelic tracks that are likely to bore people who absolutely loved the first 7. Shoulda spaced those out better.
the order of the tracks is a lot more important than people think.... and DOYS is a perfect example of how much the flow of an album can be ruined by a bad tracklisting

Yeah, you right. The 2 last songs might be the worst ones. But I think that the biggest thing DOYS is missing is highlights... All songs are quiet rockin' (except track 5). They all got grooves and great rocking drums but they are being repeated all the time - A-->B-->A-->B. I expected more guitar solos and more high points like the chorus of Supersonic who comes after a great verse and great bridge.... I'm pretty disappointed of those missing high points. "True Perfection Has To Be Imperfect." Yeah, as written in my signature. But that doesn't matter. It's not true perfection. There might be 2 songs from the album which can be awesome B-sides and instead they could have write 2 rock hits.... and even if the album doesn't have rock hits except TSOTL, there are only few songs with high point.. they should have added more guitar solos and full gain parts.

I actually do look forward to Soldier On at the end. I think it's a great tune.

i certainly trust noel's decision on the tracklisting than anyone else... afterall it's his band. If you wanna change the order of the songs it's quite easy to do
