Fair enough, I agree. Weird to see him love TBWTL, but not TNOR. They're like bother and sister to me.

I pretty much agree with this review exactly... the last three songs aren't good, especially compared to some of the truly amazing songs that precede them... I'd say The Turning & Bag It Up are by far my favourite Oasis songs since the Be Here Now era... Soldier On Isn't as annoying as Ain't Got Nothin', but it's even less of a song...

IMHO, this is the best album by the lads. Every song is solid! The productions fills perfectly the vibe of the songs. WONDERFUL record. Although it isn't for the masses. The only hit will be I'm Outta Time, which is very beautiful indeed.

Well here is my review for what its worth....
Bag It Up: Sounds strange when it first starts, really good dirty guitar but Liam singing in a really low voice and Noel in a high voice, combined sounds nothing like anything on an Oasis album before. The bridge and chorus are class, really really good start to the album. One of my favourites. The Turning: In my opinion the best song on the album, after hearing it described as a real rocker I was a little bit suprised to hear the verses. They are quite soft(ish), with piano/keyboard but class melody and lyrics. Brilliant drum beat. The chorus is amazing, classic Oasis, back to the 90's when you hear it. Waiting for the Rapture: The references to White Stripes is obvious, pounding base and really good lyrics. Really heavy guitar and an album highlight. Not long enough! Thats a sign of a good song... one of my favourite Noel sung songs in recent time. Pisses all over Mucky Fingers.... from a great height! The Shock of the Lighning: Classic Oasis - Makes you want to turn it right up and tap your foot and drive FAST when listening to it! I'm Outta Time: Basically sounds like a John Lennon song, along with the Lennon sample makes it special. Really nice melody, probably Liams best song to date but it borrows HEAVILY from John Lennons solo material. Not suprising really, a good album track but might get some stick when realeased as a single for the heavy lennon references. Get off your High Horse Lady: In my opinion the weakest track on the album - samey lyrics repeated over and over and definitely a track I will skip in future. Falling Down: Another classic, the drum beat reminds me of setting sun by chemical brothers but not as heavy, class lyrics and brilliant chorus. One of my favourites. To be where theres life: GOOD intro - sounds like Supersonic but the lack of guitars really lets it down. Good bass but another I will probably skip. Not as bad as I feared after hearing the live version, I think this song will divide people. Some will love it, some wont. I dont. Aint got Nothing: Not the weakest track on the album - its a rocker that gets better as the song goes on. In fact it grows on you and makes you tap your foot, filler...but good filler. The Nature of Reality: I am not sure what to make of this one yet - very stop and start with some good guitar, but the melody is pretty crap and it drones on. Promising at the start, but when Liam starts to sing it just screams FILLER. Lyrics aren't too good "The Nature of Reality, is pure suggestive fantasy".... Soldier On: Tied with Get Off Your High Horse Lady as the worst on the album, and joined worst album closer with Better Man. Goes nowhere.. to be fair it probably fits in OK with the album but its forgettable and again its a track I will not listen to.
Overall: Its a good album....almost great. But it JUST doesn't fit into the top 3 albums for me. I think it will definitely devide fans. In my opinion it is a lot better than DBTT, SOTSOG and HC. That is what I hoped for, and thats what we got. It may enter the top 3 cos its got that grower quality.... time will tell.

"Sadly the last three of the album lacks the focus of the beginning - ‘Ain’t Got Nothin” is a forgettable MC5 takeoff, ‘The Nature of Reality’ gives the impression that the band wanted to write a psychedelic song yet forgot to include a melody, and ‘Soldier On’ is a yawn-inducing drone."
he nailed it right there
i like the nature of reality but aint got nothing, and soldier on, not that much
