My Computer packed up all of a sudden last month and I had to by a new one. Can someone help me with some free anti-virus/spyware software. I had Avast, spybot and ad-aware but can't remember the official sites from where to download them. I know avast is avast.com but can't remember where spybot and ad-aware is from. thanks

what I didn't like about avast is that the interface wasn't too user-friendly, and it made my computer too slow. I always used the free version, I don't know if the professional one is better. but in terms of free antivirus, I prefer avg. some people use NOD32, but I don't think that one is free though

guys watch out that you don't run anti virus software , spyware and adware software from different competitors . In my experience they start overlapping each others duties and bog down your computers processor with unnecessary chores . try to find software made by the same company or an all in one package ....

So all in all what are the three essential pieces of anti-virus/spyware to have on your computer. I am considering buying the Profesional edition of avast, had the free version on my last computer and found it to be pretty good. At the moment I have: McAfee (60 day trial) and spybot.
