I understand that the album wasn't well recieved by critics, but there are at least two songs that should have been on the compilation. The two clear choices (in my opinion) would be Stand By Me and All Around The World, with It's Getting Better Man and I Hope I Think I Know coming in second.
Does anyone agree?

Noel said that they tried to fit DYKWIM? onto it, but it just didn't "flow" with the other songs (due to its length apparently).

I didn't know this...But I feel like DYKWIM is by far not the shining song from that album. So many other better songs, even Magic Pie beats it IMO.

He said he didn't do it intentionally, but it just happened that none of the songs came up when he was thinking of what to put on. And he didn't want to include a BHN song just for the sake of it.

Stand By Me and All Around the World SHOULD have been on Stop The Clocks. Dont Go Away also and THEN DYKWIM. Noel is just to stubborn

do you know what i mean is one of their best songs to date. the lyrics are fucking class and it's got the chorus and riff. magic pie and my big mouth are tunes as well, but for the sake of the rawness, fade in-out would have been mega.

DYKWIM may be the most the liked song on this board behind Live Forever, and Im not kidding. While I do like the song, it seems everyone here goes mad fer it

More importantly, where was Gas Panic!?
That compilation was cheap and commercial. Why is Lyla on it, good pop song but nowhere close to Oasis at their best. They were just trying to plug their most recent album. No matter how consistent DBTT is none of it stands out enough to be on STC!

All the singles from BHN could have been on STC. I would have loved Stand By Me or Don't Go Away but the pure attitude of DYKWIM and AATW sums up the band perfectly.

Yeah, they're too long.
The only ones that maybe had a chance were D'You Know What I Mean? and Stand By Me.
Noel hates All Around The World so that didn't have a hope.
As for Don't Go Away, it's the one real lost classic from that album but I think at the time it was seen as being a sub-standard Wonderwall.
Wish Noel would play that acoustically at the upcoming gigs - it sounded amazing when he did it with Gem on the Stop The Clocks acoustic tour.

Stand By Me and D'Yer Know What I Mean are class.
I really love "The Girl In The Dirty Shirt" too, but it's more for a personal reason.

If they were trying to plug DBTT, you think they'd put more then two songs on STC for fuck's sake. I mean, they could have justified LTBL being it was the last single before it. Lyla=#1 TIOBI=#1 It's a no brainer those two are on.

BHN is fucking great.
That album is superb. it had the spirit of:
- they were the biggest band in the world - liam was the best rock singer in the world - noel was the best rock guitarrist/song writer in the world - they were more important than christ - they were on drugs - they were hitting every photographer who takes a picture of them - they were seting on fire every hotel because they were dead drunk - they were filling their hotel room with dozens of hookers and bitches - they were throwing everying out of the window - they were trying to make the best album on rock history
and more important, the gigs were insanes. Oasis came to Argentina three times, and believe those gigs in the BHN tour were insane.
to Oasis, thank you for the good times.

For me BHN is all about the 6 amazing tunes on it
IGB (M!!) DGA SBM D'YKWIM AATW FIO
MBM and BHN are ok, but IHITIK, TGITDS, MP and that stupid reprise just ruin it.

I think that people here are missing the point
What is the relevance of STOP THE CLOCKS? I bought the album and I think I listened to it once. So what's the big deal?
The matter that really gets to me, of course is the album proper. BHN is, in my mind, a good album. However, it is certainly overblown and Noel doesn't like that at all. To him the album is a disaster and only invokes negative memories.
For me I just wish he'd ignore the album versions of the songs and just toss one or two into the setlist here and there. The strongest argument FOR this is that during Familiar to Millions the reaction to SBM is just mega. Also, the b-sides from this era are debatably the strongest of their catalogue.
But anyhow..... that nothing from BHN made it doesn't surprise nor bother me. I couldn't have really cared less cos I'm never going to listen to it. I listen to the records, man......

The funny thing is that Be Here Now may be one of my favorite albums by Oasis now. When it came out, I thought it was garbage, but after Standing on the Shoulder of Giants came out, I went back to BHN and probably listen to it more than any of their older albums.
However, from Stop the Clocks perspective... I've never like the idea of "greatest hit" albums. The songs tend to lose their significance to me. So I agree with His Royal Majesty Revolver, there's no BHN on STC, who cares?

BHN is just a fun album. Big sound, guitar solos everywhere, catchy hooks.....
