Anyone else think this is their most mainstream song ever? it sounds like they're imitating the foo fighters with that polished bullshit of a song. Liam's voice sucks now and they had to do something to cover it up, so we end up with a song that will sound great playing in Wal-Mart's across America. Congratulations, Oasis, you've conquered America. I don't like this song at all.

it is an very average song. When i heard FD first i was bouncing, a truely great song. Lightning is very good in the verses however i HATE the Chorus. It would've made a brilliant bridge but...
FD gets to the soul, shock gets slightly under the skin

The chorus has parts that sound like it'll be great, but then goes back down to a minor chord, thereby ruining it.
Decent rocker. Nothing special.
6.5/10
Falling Down is much better.

Falling Down fucking sucks. Lightning is OK. Not great, but not bad either.

The slightly underwhelming chorus is what will prove to be the flaw in this song, I think. He was talking about the chord change during the chorus not the verse. I agree with the OP, it seems to be going somewhere great but then it disappoints the listener by staying where it is. At least Falling Down is wonderful.

the song has been produced, not over produced... its sounds brilliant, if you want it to sound as basic as you get then i think maybe you should have recorded and mastered it yourself. personally (and i probably speak for alot of people on here) I think it sounds FUCKING QUALITY! so say it has been over produced is a bit of an overstatment, just be happy with what they have brought out, this new tunes beats the shit out of DBTT hands down.

Its about time they release a proper Rock N Roll song as their first single. Falling Down is much more frustrating because it could be a much better song, but its just lazy.
I cannot wait for the new album.

Noel said the song was written in about ten minutes; the final version has a lot going on (much moreso than some of the songs on DBTT) and a lot to absorb, first time since BHN we've had that many layers to absorb in an Oasis song. That doesn't mean it's overproduced though. DYKWIM? and MBM were brilliant songs, no matter how many layers of guitars they had. It's one song, I wouldn't worry too much about it, I personally love the song though. If you listen to this and then go back and listen to Wonderwall you can see why some of those songs on MG sound good acoustic as well as electric (remember Wonderwall electric from the BHN tour? That ruled); they were simpler tunes, I'll grant him that. Anyway, I don't think it's overproduced, I think it does sound mainstream but Oasis is a mainstream band anyway.

As for Liam's voice not being good anymore, talk to member ashleigh in the thread about the recent rehearsal gig. He said Liam's voice sounds brilliant.

FD gets to the soul, shock gets slightly under the skin couldn't agree more....its insipid....when i heard the 20 second clip on youtube i was jumping up and down like a little girl,...but as i listened to the whole song i couldn't help but feel disappointed..the chorus is just appalling i love Oasis just as much as the next guy on the forum and will never stop liking them but i must admit i expected "kitchen sinks" and all

There really hasn't been an album with "everything but the kitchen sink" thrown at it, has there? Not from Oasis at least. Their songs have always been fairly simple; they don't experiment to the extent that other bands do. Who Feels Love?, for example, is a great track because of how they did some different things musically, but in terms of song structure, you can tell Noel wrote that on an acoustic guitar and just added some effects, etc., in the studio to make it sound different. I guess my expectations are different, but I think it's a great Oasis song.

This song was not over produced. Its funny because Noel said that the final take is pretty much the demo. Its got a raw sound to it, very much like stuff off of Definitley Maybe.
I will say the verse to this song is AMAZING, the chorus in this song would be better as a bridge and then Noel could make a better chorus for this BUT I still think its a great tune, alot of energy and it gets me pumped and excited.
9/10 rating from me
