Has anyone let any friends listen to Falling Down yet, and if so what was their response? Maybe if people let casual listeners hear it, we can get a decent early gauge on how the "new" sound will be received by non-Oasis obsessors like us. I can already say that I played it for my mom and she thought it was some of their best work...

It won't change any minds about the band. It's not strong enough a song really.

She has never done that in her life and yet she felt compelled to listen to more Oasis stuff after hearing this song.

My girlfriend used to hate Oasis as well but I just started throwing tracks on mix CDs that I would make her and she started liking them. She prefers Noel to Liam but I've put a few Liam tracks on there.

Ok, that was a positive surprise.
This is a song that will not appeal young girls and people who listen to Britney Spears and Back Street Boys but people that are in less commersialistic music should like it. I hope they dont release it as single cause I really cant see it being played on radio. It is not really radiofriendly.

I played it for some o my mates and they were really into it, i didnt tell them it was oasis because they dont like oasis automatically - but they were digging this. I was proud of myself for spreading some real music amongst my friends

no Oasis song sounds like this. Noel's voice is as strong as ever and the lyrics are so fucking dark and personal something that he hasn't done since Gas Panic! Love the effects.

But if I say tell them Oasis prior to the song they automatically try to hate it. People are stubborn when it comes to music. I am the same way. I'm going to play this to some people and see if they like it.

It's a REALLY wonderful tune. Digging it too much. Noel is a fuckin' genius! Otherwise, average listeners will be shocked after hearing this masterpiece. FD won't be a hit. TSOL will.

I played it for a co-worker and he was blown away. I think that says alot considering I'm American.

It's just what the doctor ordered. It'll earn them a few new fans, that's for sure, and it gives diehards like myself a whole new perspective on, and appreciation for the band.
And to think - it might have come much sooner. Had SOTSOG not received such a harsh butchering at the hands of the popular music press, I reckon we'd have heard two drastically different albums to Heathen Chemistry and Don't Believe The Truth.

Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys? Are you living in 1999? That's funny. I know it's 2008, but I still use those as references for the current state of the American music scene.

In 2018 we will be saying Miley Cyrus and The Jonas Brothers, and by then they will also be psychotic with 2 troubled children and washed up.
