Fuck me, man, this sounds like a good mini gig. I sure hope someone managed to sneak in a recorder. Was Chris behind the kit?

all this panicking over the album not having a strong b-side is a bit premature. let's hear it for ourselves first. that is of course unless you heard it at the gig... then you are exempt.

But it is way more fun to panic and stay up late eating my fingernails worrying about it!

every album is a grower with me. cept morning glory. even def maybe had to grow a little bit. funny story actually... i discovered oasis when i was about 14, which was around 1999-2000. I saw the video for Wonderwall and went out and bought WTSMG right away. I loved it and bought the rest of Oasis' records. I had NO idea about the hype of DM or the slamming of BHN, and I actually really hated DM at first listen. Thought it sounded poorly produced and sloppy. Didn't give it much of a chance after that. However, I loved BHN right away. After getting more and more into Oasis I gave DM another chance and I grew into loving it. This all happened and THEN I became a much bigger Oasis fan and discovered that DM had this big legacy as some mega album. So, long story short, removed from all the hype, DM was a grower. So, saying DOYS is a grower doesn't necessarily mean it sucks.

Two albums I loved instantly: WTSMG and SOTSOG. Two albums that took me a couple of listens: Definitely Maybe and BHN. Two albums that took me a little while longer: Heathen Chemistry and DBTT.

oh, and I think this is worth noting...
there is a difference between a song that grows on you and a song that sucks that we force ourselves to listen to until it becomes listenable because we are Oasis nuts.
Gas Panic for me was a grower.
Mucky Fingers is the latter.

TOtally corect. I even listen to Full On...a crappy song that I somehow have convinced myself is good. Another real grower is Turn Up The Sun

90% of heathen chemistry failed to "grow" on me. So exactly which song do you like, then?

Not the first person to say the A side of the album is great with a so-so B side. No shit. I could have told you that without hearing the album. The A Side was almost entirely written by Noel. The fucking scrubs make up the B-Side.

90% of heathen chemistry failed to "grow" on me. So exactly which song do you like, then? i guess i listen to Songbird sometimes. and my friend likes to belt stop crying your heart out in the car. but i don't listen to anything else on it. someone had a thread about DBTT being forgettable. i feel that way about HC. love DBTT

Oasis's history with "Growers": DM, WTSMG, BHN - all hit you like a ton of bricks and made you go wow. SOTSOG - total grower. Why, it is a total downer record...with some real duds. HC - total grower. Why? The second side sux. DBTT - grower. Why? GGTIA, LLAB - really are not fully explored. And Mucky Fingers is a better FON...which is like saying, Toploader is a better version of Simply Red. I don't think you understand what the term "grower" (at least when applied to music) means. HC was not a "grower" in any sense of the word. It's impressed on first listen but died a slow and horrible death on repeated listens. The exact opposite of a grower. HC was a shrinker.
